OOC: And what about Jonatan? Is he still on the sub?

Sorry I overlooked this...Jon would have been releazsed as soon as they returned to port (they were about a week or two out from Norfolk...maybe a little more, someone else do the math...*tries to ignore headache from this forum's whiteness, whilst wishing it had the color scheme from the Subsim Radio Room...*)

EDIT: Arrangements would have been made to get Jon to wherever it was he needed to go. Other arrangements as to what to do about the loss of the Minnie would have been dealt with as well.

  2. Unfortunately,I don't use gmax anymore...I use 3dsmax6...

I figure that it can probably be done in a similar way in 3dsmax6, but I'm done fiddling with it for now. I ran it through DE and the bow looks a little smoother, but the aft section of the main cylinder wasn't smoothed like I'd hoped it would be. Also, the file got twice as big...

  3. I'd like to use Anim8or, but find the interface to be significantly different from 3dsmax6, also, you can't specify specific sizes and things (that I've found...)

So it looks like it would take a bit of doing to get something exactly say 100 feet long...

I'd love to learn how to properly use Anim8or...

Also note I started my Seawolf project in gmax and moved it into 3dsmax when I got it. (Had to convert to 3ds...was a pain, but Tempest and Deep Exploration helped...now that I have the simpler md3 exporter I can do it with a better interface, as the one in Tempest is hard to work with...) Though, I'd only go back to gmax to do texturing...I learned texturing for gmax, but it's not that simple in 3ds...:( You'd think it would be virtually the same, considering the same company made both products...

  5. (Night, somehwere in the south eastern part of the G.I.UK gap)

    (Onboard the USS Seawolf)

Conn, Sonar, new contact bearing 146, desginate Sierra 1. *begins working ferociously to classify the contact*

Helm, turn right to 190, make turns for 4 knots.

Turn right to 190, make turns for 4 knots, Helm, aye. *turns the wheel to the right a bit*

Make turns for 4 knots, Maneuvering, aye. *adjusts the throttle*

    *Some time passes.*

*centers the wheel* Conn, Helm, steady course 190.

    *A few minutes later.*

Conn, sonar Sierra 1 is classified warship. Working on IDENT.

*About ten minutes pass, during which Sonar detects contacts on the same bearing as Sierra 1 (using different sonars), these contacts are taken by the TMA crew and deemed to be one and the same , thus Sierra 1-3 becomes Master 1.*

Conn, TMA, have weapons lock on Master 1

Conn, Sonar, IDENT Master 1. Master 1 sounds like HMS Trition.

    Dive, periscope depth.

Periscope depth, Dive aye. *makes trim adjustment*

    *A few minutes later*

*levels the ship out at 68 feet* Conn, Dive, at 68 feet.

    Raise the periscope.

    *The periscope is raised*

*looks down the bearing of Master 1 and zooms in for POSIDENT, remembering to flick the switch for nightvision mode*

POSIDENT, Master 1 is HMS Triton, no other sightings. Lower scope.

    *The periscope is lowered*

Torpedo Room, load tubes 1 through 4, Tomahawk Antiship.

Load tubes 1 through 4, TASM, Torpedo Room aye.

    *Some more time passes.*

Conn, Torpedo Room, tubes 1 through 4 loaded, TASM.

Torpedo Room, flood tubes 1 through 4 and ready them for shooting.

Flood tubes 1 through 4 and ready for shooting, Torpedo Room aye.

    *A few minutes later.*

Conn, Torpedo Room, tubes 1 through 4 flooded and otherwise ready for shooting.

Fire Control, lock tubes 1 through 4 on Master 1 and shoot tube 1.

Aye, sir. *works on console, a soft hiss is heard as the missile is launched*

*A minute and fiteen second after the missile is launched.*

Conn, sonar, have new contact bearing 143. Designtate Sierra 4. On the same bearing as Master 1, but is definitely a seperate contact.

*Exactly two minutes after the TASM was launched.*

    (Onboard the Minnie)

*is out on the bow looking at the stars while the rest of the crew is doing whatever it is that they are supposed to be doing*

*Suddenly and without warning, the Minnie explodes, throwing Jonatan off the bow and into the drink. Jonatan is the only survivor and he swears that he heard a missile just before the explosion. He clings to a piece of wreckage that still floats.*

    (Onboard the USS Seawolf)

Conn, Sonar, explosion on the bearing of Master 1 and Sierra 4. Can't tell which was hit, not knowing the distance to Sierra 4. I hope it was on the other side of our target.

    Dammit... Sonar, keep me updated.

Sir, that TASM hit something other than our target. It should have taken three minutes, twenty-three seconds to reach Master 1.

Dammit! Navigator, take us to the area where our TASM went off. We may be able to pick up survivors. Fire Control, when Master 1 is on a different bearing shoot tube 2 at it.

    Plotting new course, aye.

    Aye.

*A few minutes pass, and the TASM in tube 2 is launched, with another dull hiss*

Helm, follow the course plotted by the Navigator. Sonar, Conn, stow the TA.

Following new course, helm aye. *turns the wheel*

    Stow the TA, Sonar aye.

*A few minutes later the ship is on course and the TA is stowed.*

    (Onboard the HMS Triton.)

*The second TASM reaches its intended target and destroys it. There are no survivors. Although this vessel had noted the explosion on the Minnie, there was no helicopter available to investigate.*

    (Onboard the USS Seawolf.)

Conn, Sonar, explosion on the bearing of Master 1. TA is stowed.

    Make turns for 20 knots.

Make turns for 20 knots,Maneuvering aye. *adjusts throttle*

*More time passes and the ship eventually reaches the area where the Minnie went down.*

Make turns for 1 knot. Raise the periscope.

Make turns for 1 knot, Maneuvering aye.

    *The periscope is raised*

*peers out, looking around for survivors, just barely sees Jonatan clinging to a piece of wreckage. There is no sign of the HMS Triton. Flashes the signaling light at Jonatan, hoping to get his attention.* Surface the boat.

Surface the boat, Dive aye. *works with dive console to surface the boat*

*A few moments later, the sub is on the surface.*

Conn, Dive, ship is on the surface and holding.

*Lookouts with infared goggles go up to the bridge and look around.*

*The diver goes out to retrieve Jonatan.*

*A soaking wet Jonatan is brought aboard. He immediately tries to punch the CO, Travis.*

*blocks the punch* Jon, if you want to punch someone, punch him *points to Fire Control Chief*, he set the missile enable range too incorrectly. Also, we had no idea your boat was out there until after we launched the missile.

Yeah, sure you didn't... *punches Fire Control Chief, who doesn't block*

    No other survivors spotted.

    Prepare to dive.

*The lookouts come below and button up.*

*Jonatan is given clean, dry clothes and is given a hot meal.*

*The ship dives and slips out of sight, returning to port.*

(Fade to black with the words, "To Be Continued..."

OOC Note: I've actually done this in Sub Command, shot at a military target, then have a civvie ship newly detected and struck by the TASM...not fun, as it gave the intended target time to launch a second helo. I snuck away from the helos and destroyed the target ship with a MK-48.
