  1. Hello Peter I have been using the CH yoke, pedals and throttle quadrant calibrated with FSUIPC since 2004 without problems but over the last week or so I am experiencing problems with the Elevator axis that manifests in some payware aircraft but not in others. In the Axis Assignment page I see in the "set minimum change here" boxes about 50% of the range of the numerical values - approx -16384 to approx 8448 but in the the Axis Calibration page in the boxes under the Reset button page I see no numerical change at all: throughout the full back and forth movement of the yoke the numbers shown are static and completely out of whack; for example 5721 to 5371 In the aircraft visual model (this appears in quality payware jets but not in other A/C) the Elevator movement is severely limited - lots of up but no down - and as I said - no movement in the numerical values in the "Set" section on the left. This problem is new and all other axes (Aileron and Gear up/down on the yoke and all pedal and quadrant) work correctly. I am completely at a loss as to why this is happening; all my configs are the same as ever (I backup and reinstall the FSUIPC .ini file after any OS or FS installs) and have no idea whether this is an A/C, FSUIPC or human problem. Regards Nicholas
  2. The reason for the short runtime is that this was the third time I had not gained a connection and I ran it in order to produce the logs - nothing else - so yes, I was impatient and jolly cross. "Why is your heading "Address family not supported by protocol family"? You aren't using the IPX protocol are you? In current Microsoft operating systems that protocol is optional. You'd need to explicitly install it if you wanted to use it." I have no idea "why". I recently had an OS reinstall by a qualified tech so perhaps he put it there unbeknownst to me. Is it wrong, or just unnecessary? That being said I have had WideFS running correctly since that OS reinstall. ********* WideServer.DLL Log [version 6.78] ********* Blocksize guide = 4096 (double allowed) Date (dmy): 09/06/10, Time 15:38:27.625: Server name is SERVER 114500 Initialising TCP/IP server 114500 Initialising IPX/SPX server 114500 IPX/SPX socket() failed [Error=10047] Address family not supported by protocol family 114500 Failed to start IPX/SPX Server 114500 Initialising UDP/IP server 116031 Broadcasting service every 1000 mSecs 125656 Restarting service due to total lack of use 125656 Failed to start IPX/SPX Server 281734 Closing down now ... 3. Good day Peter WideFS was working fine then after a few days away I get no connection: ********* WideServer.DLL Log [version 6.78] ********* Blocksize guide = 4096 (double allowed) Date (dmy): 09/06/10, Time 10:40:54.109: Server name is SERVER 100546 Initialising TCP/IP server 100562 Initialising IPX/SPX server 100562 IPX/SPX socket() failed [Error=10047] Address family not supported by protocol family 100562 Failed to start IPX/SPX Server 100562 Initialising UDP/IP server 102078 Broadcasting service every 1000 mSecs 111625 Restarting service due to total lack of use 111625 Failed to start IPX/SPX Server ********* WideClient Log [version 6.75] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 09/06/10, Time 10:43:02.468: Client name is LAPTOP 266 Attempting to connect now 1266 Trying to locate server: Need details from Server Broadcast 1266 Failed to connect: waiting to try again 3313 Attempting to connect now 3469 Server = SERVER 3516 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVER" port 8002 ... 3516Okay, IP Address = 192.168.1.100 20563 ****** End of session performance summary ****** 20563 Total time connected = 0 seconds 20563 Reception maximum: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec 20563 Transmission maximum: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec 20563 Max receive buffer = 0, Max send depth = 0, Send frames lost = 0 20563 ********* Log file closed (Buffers: MaxUsed 0, Alloc 0 Freed 0 Refused 0) ********* I have not knowingly made any changes to my settings on either pc. 4. Im sorry for my mistake: It reads IP:0100 then OP version 3.98 I recently had a pro tech guy run a Memtest and it came back clean. Sending runways.txt now. Thanks.
  5. Tried to run MakeRwys and got this dialogue: 16bit MS-DOS Subsystem MakeRwys.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction OS: 0f 47 IP OP: f0 47 89 69 62 This is on XP Sp3, FS9.1, following an OS reinstall leaving FS on another drive. Thanks Nicholas
  6. Using the latest version with the new Profile option, I´m afraid I got carried away and set various parameters (rudder, brakes, gear and the like) as Profile for the aircraft loaded at that time, when they should really be global settings. How can I undo the Profile checkbox and make these settings "all aircraft"? Regards Nicholas
  7. Following an XP reinstall, leaving FS9 as was on another HD, I have most things working except FSUIPC. Leaving everything in FS9 as per the previous setup I sucessfully re-registered FSUIPC and WideFS but get no response at all from my CH hardware. The .Dll is there, the .ini file is there. Then I began to mess things up by downloading and installing the latest version (with its self-installer) but still it didnt pick up my .ini file. I now have my original .Dll there still with no luck, and I am not looking forward to reprogramming all my payware aircraft. (I have reluctantly begun this laborious task, and things work so far with the new .ini, but I would much rather to use my previous file.) I have done things this way once before and everything worked fine.
  8. FS9 on XP, CH yoke, quad and pedals, buttons and axes and calibration with FSUIPC (no Control Manager). I did a format and re-install and dropped in the saved .ini file, and ........chaos. I have no controls. The non-aircraft specific basic buttons and axes setup bears no relation to that programmed (I have yet to install addon aircraft so don`t yet know about those) and even the default cockpit view is out of whack - looking upwards instead of forwards (moving the hatswitch brings a brief flash of another view but stays on the upward view). If I remove the .ini the default cockpit view is correct but of course I still have no controls. In the FS assignments screen I see the CH hardware in the dropdown box I was wondering what I might have missed. Is there something else I should have saved?
  9. I know there is a clever naming convention within FSUIPC to allow multiple liveries of the same aircraft to assume the same button, axis, etc configuration without having to do them one by one, but I can´t for the life of me remember how to do it. I know I have to "Yes" the relevant line in the FSUIPC .ini file, but which line in the aircraft .cfg has to show the common (ie no variation) name? Thanks.
  10. Hi Peter I hope you will be pleased to hear that I now have a working network and am successfully running WideFS allowing FS Commander (with more to come) on the client pc. The problem seems to have been the modem provided by the ISP. The workaround (other than the 135 Euro 'upgrade' to Wireless they wanted me to buy) was broadband from modem to one pc via Usb, and the two pc's connected by Ethernet cable. Kind regards.
  11. Removed windows firewall from server. Failed to connect. I desist. Thank you.
  12. Hello again Peter I have been receiving more patient assistance, this time from a Flightsim.com forum member, and he too is flummoxed. (Following your suggestion I posted a request for help on the FS2004 forum but with no response.) May I ask you to explain something very basic to me: When I run WideClient, a log is created on both the client and the server. Doesn't this imply that the network itself has to be valid, otherwise WideFS on the server wouldn't receive any data? The firewall issue: WideClient is allowed full access on the client. The server has only the windows firewall running: only once did I get a request from windows firewall to allow WideClient - and that request appeared on the clientpc. Should that be so? Later on I allowed sharing for the folder where WideClient is: I then told windows firewall on the server to allow WideClient. Still no connection. The network seems to be correct. WideClient seems to be allowed access both ends. I have recently got two WideClient logs, minutes apart, with obviously different information: do they tell you anything? ********* WideClient Log [version 6.71] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 04/03/07, Time 10:29:37.484: Client name is CLIENTPC 469 Attempting to connect now 1109 Server = SERVERPC 3375 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVERPC" port 8002 ... 3375 Error on client gethostbyname() [Error=11001] Host not found 6109 Server = SERVERPC 8359 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVERPC" port 8002 ... 8359 Error on client gethostbyname() [Error=11001] Host not found 11109 Server = SERVERPC 13359 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVERPC" port 8002 ... 13359 Error on client gethostbyname() [Error=11001] Host not found 15359 Giving up server, looking for another! 16109 Server = SERVERPC 18359 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVERPC" port 8002 ... 18359 Error on client gethostbyname() [Error=11001] Host not found 21109 Server = SERVERPC 23359 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVERPC" port 8002 ... 23359 Error on client gethostbyname() [Error=11001] Host not found 26109 Server = SERVERPC 28359 Trying TCP/IP host "SERVERPC" port 8002 ... 28359 Error on client gethostbyname() [Error=11001] Host not found 29516 ****** End of session performance summary ****** 29516 Total time connected = 0 seconds 29516 Reception maximum: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec 29516 Transmission maximum: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec 29516 Max receive buffer = 0, Max send depth = 0, Send frames lost = 0 29516 ********* Log file closed (Buffers: MaxUsed 0, Alloc 0 Freed 0 Refused 0) ********* and ********* WideClient Log [version 6.71] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 04/03/07, Time 10:26:53.593: Client name is CLIENTPC 485 Attempting to connect now 1485 Trying to locate server: Need details from Server Broadcast 1485 Failed to connect: waiting to try again 3485 Attempting to connect now 16375 ****** End of session performance summary ****** 16375 Total time connected = 0 seconds 16375 Reception maximum: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec 16375 Transmission maximum: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec 16375 Max receive buffer = 0, Max send depth = 0, Send frames lost = 0 16375 ********* Log file closed (Buffers: MaxUsed 0, Alloc 0 Freed 0 Refused 0) ********* If I get nowhere today I am going to reinstall OS and FS on the server and start again.
