  1. i remember where madaz started his mammoth intercontinental flight to ksea. townsville.

if i remember me ozland days (1999-2001) it's in queensland, to the north. i think i went to a rodeo there. it was hot AND FUN!!! as all get out. had a hangover from a case of VBs. beautiful place. the senoritas are hubba-hubba! lotsa beach, if i remember. a coral paradise!!! i'll see if i can some pix to scan of me there.

geeze, no wonder madaz didn;t want to stay too long at ksea.

  2. geeze, simon, i'm grabbing this one myself.

madaz, i hope, will be so pleased.

i usually fly the bou in "Air Expendable" (Terry & the Pirates, ww2-based cartoon), paint, but now, if madaz allows me to borrow her, i'll fly the emmabou too.

    thanks man,

  3. bummer, man, i have seen a whole bunch except the the thrust sprint. even checked to see if it was in lago's ulight package.

got any specs on it? have you had a good go on her yet?

    good luck,

  4. hi mustang,

best place to go for this stuff are the readme files for the mesh scenery by justin tyme (fsgenesis.net), sotomayor, steve greenwood, thierry pignot, et al.

apparently this line gives your mesh scenery detail. here's a quote from one of steven greenwood's files.

"But you will not see it if you are still using the default value of TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19 (in the [TERRAIN] section) of your fs2002.cfg file. This value is adequate for the default mesh, but will not display all the additional detail available in mesh constructed from 30m or better source data. I recommend a value of 21 for the most detail, but a value of 20 may be preferable if FPS is a serious problem."

perhaps, raising that number to 30 just gave toooo much mesh detail for emma, if this is possible.

maybe some of the club's scenery gurus could better answer you.

i would move down to between 20 or 21. i keep mine at 21.

according to justin tyme, i think, bumping the figure up to 30 shouldn't make things better but i haven't heard it make things worse.

    cheers,

  5. glad you're back terry.

now, when you get a chance, perhaps you can work with me connecting to the main effc session. (not a port prob)

where'd ya go for vacation? it must have been something very relaxing if it was relaxing enough that you solved an email prob. hope you did more than think about probs back home though.

    welcome back.

  6. madaz is the one who flew his 'bou' (dehavilland caribou) from some place in ozland (australia) to the fly-in at ksea via eastern hemisphere transit (i.e., thru asia/europe/atlantic ocean/eastern usa. i think it took a month. after the flyin he snook his bou around to the back of one of the hangars and slept it off for the night.

dunno if he made the trip back across the pond to home yet, though. & i don't think there is an emma paint in the bou, though that would be nice.

    welcome to the club bou553.

now since you have an official efc # you know that means you have to pay taxes here. fritz's brother, the tax collector, will be around to collect. none of us have, however. everytime we see that suv (or whatever it is) cruising the field we slam the throttle to the firewall & head on over to dexter's. we should get some of them aussie infantry-trained roos after him but know one wants to pay for that either. go figure.

    official welcome to ya, dude.

  7. hey "fritz"

expect some email from me momentarily. i got some hangar-talk time so i should be able to give a hand (or a foot).

i'll be bringing a jug of kentucky bourbon (& a bottle of glenlivet) with me to the job interview, so prepare to grab a snort or three or 10. geeze, perhaps, by the time you get back to the office we'll be sooo drunk we'll be slouzing around the field movin' dem 18-wheelers like nobody's biznes.

oh, by the way, do we get a choice of company-owned aircraft to use as one of the perks? no worries if we don't but i'd rather spend the club's fuel alottment than myne own.

  8. ya c, i just knewd one of me kewl-freres would have a knowing answer.

    thanks for ther info madaz.

i have all kinds of stuff turned on max, since i have cable, no noticeable probs. of course, frames is set at 19 max.

so that solves the mp mode. now, if someone could tell me about the a.i. mode that would be gravy.

    cheers mate,

  9. maybe you guys could shed some light on this: why are other folk's aircraft wheels not showing up, or should i say 'not showing down?'

i see it sometimes in some a.i. aircraft where they will land/taxi as though they are hovercraft.

i suspect this could be the case for previous version (98/2k) a/c, perhaps something to do with the "mdl" file, but i would just like to read an explanation from knowledgeable emma confreres here.

can anyone explain this apparently "normal" fs anomaly?

also noticed i typed in "efc126" as my callsign, vs the more accurate efc136. another "duh!" moment for this fs geezer.

    an avant thnx,

    don efc136/cub03

  10. hiya ajay,

i use "fs sky world" cloud/sky engine thingamajig. forget what it's called officially. i have the storm clouds set to one of the "colored" schemes. reminds me of the clouds i saw over idaho a few times many moons ago.

i like'm for storms. makes them look as ominous as they are in the sky.

    cheers,

  11. yea, man, the mriya went through it like a hot knife through gelatine.

&, in real life, kmwh claims to have better weather than the seattle area. i suppose that is how the market their airport to so many airlines for training in the heavies.

i was going towards my base-turn so i couldn't get above it.

the mriya actually handles real well in the air, but is touchy on taxi (she needs a bit of a gentle but steady on the throttle, turns well for a monster). she will challenge your forcefeedback2 if you have the forces turned all the way up (as i do, 'as real as it gets"). she's the only aircraft i have that makes the controller hummmm during turns and needs all your strength sometimes.

since this is designed for fs2k i would love to see one designed for fs2k2 or fscof.

you can handle the bou pretty good madaz. you fly her alot?

by the way, i used to live in ozland. nsw. sydney west subs. guildford. rawson road.

    cheers mate,

    don efc136/cub03

  12. my suggestion, tailspin, is to decide which scenery designer(s) you most admire & just write to them, introduce yourself & set your intentions THEN go ahead & download one of the design tools from avsim/flightsim.com (airport or fssc, or some such).

after you've made your plans & fussed about for a bit write back to whomever responded back with you an ok to correspond with them and shoot ahead what ever hurdle(s) you've experienced.

i've seldom come upon a freeware developer (aircraft, module or scenery) who was not forthcoming & helpful to a neophyte designer.

there are a few of them who are effc members & forum participants.

good luck & may the muses assist you.

let us know how ya made out.

    cheers,

    don efc136/cub03

  13. hey guys,

since the ksea flyin was held on the alternate effc server i was able to participate.

as was about to land , about 10 nm from my base at grant co intl/moses lake (kmwh), i came upon a storm wall. i thought i would share the screenies with ya. too bad i wasn't quick enough to catch the lightning!

of course, the beast in the air is the antonov an224 "mriya".

it was great fun. thanks all.

  14. great job, simon. finally, an effc-repaint of the important caravan.

flag? hmmm, my guess is Transylvania (count dracula's digs).

ain't that the flag hanging over the bar at dexter's?

thanks, man. what's my gift from the shop?

    don efc136/cub03

  15. nice paint, simon van gohg.

hmmm, but i'm a'thinkin here: "white whitch" herk, brit flag carav; hmmm. a pattern's arising here. my main man, but i ain't yet pinpointing it. i'll await your next repaint.

my take on the fkag ID is this tho: effc is international. a transversing of international lines/borders. no flags whatsoever on emma field paints. unless one requests the club painter to place one.

& united nations flag is DEFINITELY out. polictical as meat & potato dishes are across any intl/racial/ethnic/regkional/tribal-ly manifested boundaries.

hmmm, which one would i request?

    nice job far simon.

  16. for those emma-ites into sleek turbos with the curves of a 25-year-old sophia loren, word came out on the fsd-international forum, earlier today, that the next aircraft (after the release of the gmax cheyenne & the long-awaited pilatus porter) is the (drum roooolllll please)

    http://www.piaggioamerica.com/GalleryIms/bro2.JPG

    piaggio p180 avanti.

man, i'm wetting myself on this, so to speak. i'm going to try to be one of the first to try & fly this baby over the skies of snokomish.

i have earlier-made versions but few have been able to get it right since fs98 days, & that one pushed the limits of that sim version.

just thought ya'd like ta know.

    don efc136/cub03

  17. "white witch"?! hmmm, who could that be?

    whatever.

    another superb job, simon.

now fritz is really going to be ticked off with these babies crashin' into the trees. best to do just a slow & very low cargo drop over the oft-abused glider field.

man, i have to get in touch with your woman about giving you some more chores around the homestead.

    thanks, dudaroni.
