jepeve Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Using FS 2004, I recently noticed a problem with my Microsoft FFB1 and thereafter also with my FFB2 joystick. Functioning properly in the beginning, after some time (days) suddenly the handle on the joystick could not open or close the throttle fully (rev's remain between 1200 and 2200 ) which is pretty annoying. Calibration showed nothing unusual. F1 and F4 keys give the required reaction. I deinstalled FS 2004 a couple of times and installed it again and in most cases that solved the problem for some time, however the problem reoccured. From another Forum, I got the recommendation to try FSUIPC. My question to Mr Dowson is whether he thinks his software can solve the problem. In that case I will gladly pay for it. Thanks on beforehand. Jepeve
Pete Dowson Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Using FS 2004, I recently noticed a problem with my Microsoft FFB1 and thereafter also with my FFB2 joystick. I deinstalled FS 2004 a couple of times and installed it again and in most cases that solved the problem for some time, however the problem reoccured. Hmmm. How odd. Certainly the calibration in the software cannot just 'deteriorate' like that. The only things affecting the response from the potentiometers in joysticks are physical -- dirt, temperture, low voltages, poor contacts, et cetera. But re-installing FS won't make any difference to those. Cleaning the joystick insides and the plugs and sockets and things might, but not just re-installing FS. That doesn't make any sense to me, I'm afraid. From another Forum, I got the recommendation to try FSUIPC. My question to Mr Dowson is whether he thinks his software can solve the problem. In that case I will gladly pay for it. I'm sorry, but not knowing why your joysticks are deteriorating in such an odd fashion I couldn't possibly say that FSUIPC can do anything. All it does it provide more exact full on and off settings (and centres where relevant). I wouldn't want you to pay for it just for that then be disappointed. I think you need to determine the cause of the problem and fix that. Sorry if this is a disappointment. Regards, Pete
jepeve Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 Pete, thanks for your response. In the meantime I followed another lead and tried via FS Options-controls-assignments-joystickaxes and ticked the box "reverse" for throttle handle. It worked! Again I had full control over the throttle lever, but of course in reversed mode. After un-ticking the box again, everything was working properly again. So at least I now know how to handle this problem. However I read so much good about your program that I am going to buy it anyway. Christmas is coming up and we never know what to ask Father Christmas. So this is double good news. Thanks again. Jepeve
