warthog02 Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 :( Had a problem when Wideclient failed to connect to the Wideserver PC with a "Pre-Connection Error" message appearing in the wideclient.log file. Another Wideclient installed on a third PC and running simultaneously did not have this problem. :D Problem solved by: 1. Specifying the IP address instead of the PC name in the wideclient.ini file of the problem PC, and 2. Disabling SPX/IPX protocol in both the server and problem PC's.
Pete Dowson Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Problem solved by: 1. Specifying the IP address instead of the PC name in the wideclient.ini file of the problem PC, and 2. Disabling SPX/IPX protocol in both the server and problem PC's. Thanks for the information. I can possibly understand the second, assuming you are using Windows XP or a mixture of XP and 98, but the first one has me rather baffled, as the first thing WideClient does with the PC name is ask Windows to translate it into an IP address. If it cannot do this, WideClient wouldn't get as far as trying to connect. (WideClient does actually log the result). Hmmm. Puzzled ... Regards, Pete
zwemjan Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Hi warthog02 I still have the same problem (see page 3 SUNMAR 14 2004) FSGarmin530 and WideFS. :( I don't ask you to solve my problem but would you be so kind to send me your ini files of the client and of the server. May be it will be helpfull to me. You could put it on the forum or send to my address j.zwemmer@hccnet.nl whatever you like
