ronzie Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I was merrily flying along (3.40 fully reg, advdisp 2.123, AS2004.5 final, W98SE) when switching views FS9.1 froze in a side view with no type of escape procedure working except a hard reboot. I do not think FSUIPC was involved but when I went to look at the log for hints, it was blank. On a crash such as this requiring a hard restart was it blank because the file was not closed? Thanks for comment.
Pete Dowson Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 ... when I went to look at the log for hints, it was blank. On a crash such as this requiring a hard restart was it blank because the file was not closed? On a hard crash the file system doesn't get a chance tp flush its write caches to disk, so you lose everything in memory. I think you can tell Windows you don't want writes to be cached, and then it will actually write to disk each time a write to a file occurs, but this will affect performance. Regards, Pete
Stéphane Beaupré Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 With PSS Dash8 it happens every time when a punchout my My flight plan it the FMS, have any ideas ? Stephane
Pete Dowson Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 With PSS Dash8 it happens every time when a punchout my My flight plan it the FMS, have any ideas ? My advice is to report it to PSS, and get support from their forum. Definitely sounds like a bug or possibly the installation of the aircraft went wrong? Could try un-installing and re-installing, just in case. Pete
Stéphane Beaupré Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 It was a long since I'v installed the update for FS9 , and that I didn't fly the PSS Dash8 since a long time, and then yesterday FS9 crashes, I'v already contatced PSS support for that anyway Stephane
ronzie Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Posted October 31, 2004 Off-Topic but just a thought: Some products check the flight sim version line in the FP. With the FS9 patch to 9.1 any plan created with FS9.1 has a different version number and has been causing problems with some products that check it closely. I use external planning apps and this has not been a problem for me. This is what I'd look for in any support forum for that specific product.

It is not just for planning, it is also to fly with programed FMS routes
