Hi Pete,

I have a problem with epicinfo. I installed the software as prescribed but when I start fs then it crashes everytime. Crash meaning it starts well, ask the location, type of airplane and so on. Then it loads the scenery but thenstops. No matter what I press just doesn't response. What could be the problem ? My system is as follows PIII - 800 512 KB memory, windows XP, FS9, Epic card USB installed, Epicenter 1.062

The only thing I can think of is that it is hanging on the Epic access. Try running it with the EPIC driver removed -- EPICINFO actually can be run with no EPIC, just for logging purposes for instance. If it runs okay with no EPIC then it is likely to be some clash there. I'm afraid you'd need to seek support from the EPIC folks then.

I don't really use EPIC these days and, apart from making it work with each new FS release, I've not worked on EPICINFO for years.

The other thing to do is check the contents of the EPICINFO log file. I'll look up one of mine so we can compare.

BTW please always mention version numbers -- Version of EPICINFO and FSUIPC (the latter is needed by EPICINFO).

Pete

Dear Pete,

Thank you for your reply and my appologies for answering back to you with this delay. Real world duties have been bugging me :-}

I have been able to get the fs running with epicinfo and epicio.dll running. The problem was actually because epicinfo did not find epic (found out by reading the report in epicinfo logthank you for pointing that out)

Now my problem is how to get FSUIPC to detect a button I created with EPIC. I have programmed an epl that simply turns on and off a LED when the button is pressed or depressed. The button is working find and does what I program it to do.

Now with the button working I ran the fs, opened the module and went to the buttons. Pressed my epic button, LED went on but FSUIPC did not detect it. Why Pete, what do I do to get FSUIPC to detect the button press?

Rully

Sorry I forgot to inform you with the following data :

1. FS 9

2. FSUIPC 3.411

3. EPICIO 1.7.0.0 the latest being 1.7.4.0

4. EPICINFO 4.22

I think that's all to do with how it is programmed/declared in the EPL. I was totally confued by all of that too and had to ask Ralph Robinson for help. All that was years ago.

It was all quite easy when I used the ISA EPIC andf my VXD, but I just got completely lost with the changes to the system later. Sorryyou do need help from someone who knows EPIC USB EPL methods. I am totally out of touch now, not being an EPIC use at all for a long time.

Regards,

Pete
