Strange errors using wideFS!!!!

Hiya all

I have been using wideFS and FSUIPC for around 2 years now and have never had a probelm. Recently I had to reinstall windows 2000 on my server PC thanks to some virus that I couldnt remove.

Everything connects fine with the client and server but I get strange results. When I start activesky 2004 and refresh it to start the weather lookup it detects the wrong airport and then will freeze when the weather updates. Also radar contact all connects ok and I use adv display to see the radar contact text on my FS PC, but when I contact a controller radar contact dies and no sounds or keys work.

Many thanks to anyone who can help me with this problem as I find my self shying away from flightsim because I cant use these addons and it dosnt seem as fun.

Those are serious errors. The data blocks are getting corrupted. The last time I had anything like that happen it eventually turned out to be a failing Ethernet interface card.

You need to do a process of elimination to find the culprit. Software causes could include simple things like a shared IRQ -- I don't know how good Win2000 is at doing this, but most Windows versions until recent XP updates were pretty bad, especially when you got an Ethernet adapter and a video card on the same IRQ. To get a different IRQ you may need to move the card. If it's a motherboard chipset interface then that's a problem.
