david_41 Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Eric Marciano's Radar Gauge is used by Johan Peeters for his F-16 Panel and by Ronald Cachemaille for his "Back to the Future" DC3 Panel and his Mobile Control Tower. I have attempted to register it using the Freeware Application Key for F16.gau: DSVT JE5S 6DUO. I followed the "Register an Application" process in the User Guide and the registration was accepted but re-starting FS2004 resulted in the "unregistered" message. In the FSUIPC.log the pertinent entries are Aircraft="F-8E Crusader" (with F-16 Panel), Aircraft\Douglas_DC3\Douglas_DC3.air (with BTF Panel). FS2004 is Version 9.1 Build 40901.01. I would really like to make this gauge functional. Did you enter the whole name ("F16.gau")? This gauge has been a problem on and off for a long time. It works perfectly with the key on most systems, as it does here, but something about the way it is written is strange and it causes problems on a few folks' systems. Search on "F16" in this Forum and you will see what I mean. In one case I think it was some interaction with another application altogether. I do provide tools and instructions for application authors to build in the Keys I allocate, so that their programs or gauges will actually register themselves automatically and give no hassle to the users. Unfortunately one or two authors, even though still actively programming, haven't come around to taking this easy step. ********* FSUIPC, Version 3.44 by Pete Dowson ********* You wil see from the list of supported versions earlier in this Forum, version 3.44 is not supported. It is several versions out of date -- 3.48 has been current for over two months. You should update your FSUIPC before reporting problems and asking for assistance, please. If it still doesn't work, and you've entered the details correctly, there are three alternatives: 1. Try to find out what it is in your system which is causing the problem, and fixing that. As I say, it works on most systems. Possibly a search though this Forum will show something which relates to your system. 2. Find an alternative TCAS gauge which isn't so troublesome. The Lee Hetherington ones are pretty good (ILH_TCAS for instance). 3. Purchase a registration for FSUIPC. This effectively bypasses all application registration checks as well as giving you a load more facilities. Regards, Pete
grahamsr1 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Hi Pete, I have a simular problem but from a different direction. I was trying to register my F16.gau file but my FSUIPC screen doesn't have the "register external program" button. I have tried downloading and reinstalling the FSUIPC but I can't get that button to show up. Any ideas? The FSUIPC is registered and working properly except for that darn button.

That "darn button" isn't there because a User Registered FSUIPC does not need any application keys whatsoever -- in the user registered version ALL applications get free access. This is actually mentioned in the documentation as one of the advantages of registering. It's this paragreph in the "What you get if you pay" section: Automatic access for all compatible application programs whether they are accredited or not. No access keys are required for programs to use a fully registered user copy of FSUIPC. This may come in especially useful for programs that are no longer maintained by their developer and therefore not likely to become accredited. Pete
grahamsr1 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Ok I understand, thanks Pete. Unfortantally, that puts me back to square one with the radar guage and AIbridge not working together. Oh well.
Pete Dowson Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Ok I understand, thanks Pete. Unfortantally, that puts me back to square one with the radar guage and AIbridge not working together. Oh well. What is the symptom? AI bridge was designed to work with Squawkbox 2. I don't think it is at all needed with the current on-line flying programs. Also, is the gauge working without multiplayer, with normal AI traffic, but not with MP traffic? If so it may be the way it was programmed. The MP traffic have distinguishing IDs, so this can be done. Regards, Pete
grahamsr1 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Pete, There is a new version of AIBridge 3.0 that is suppose to work with FS9 but the problem is it detects the MP but doesn't connect (just freezes and stops running). One suggestion was to register the guage f16.gau and AIBridge with FSUIPC in order to make it work but that must be for unregistered versions of FSUIPC (I believe in registering, you deserve the bucks). I'm not sure what the issue is with AIBridge but it effects about 20% of the users. I was just trying anything to get it running. The gauge works well with SB3 (without AIBridge) the problem is with FSINN. Anyway, thanks for being there.

Ahthat's not likely to be anything related to registration in any case. BTW doesn't Jose support AIBridge on his own website? One suggestion was to register the guage f16.gau and AIBridge with FSUIPC in order to make it work but that must be for unregistered versions of FSUIPC Yes -- there is no such thing for user-registered copies as all that part of the checking is thereby bypassed. I'm not sure what the issue is with AIBridge but it effects about 20% of the users. I was just trying anything to get it running. The gauge works well with SB3 (without AIBridge) the problem is with FSINN. Anyway, thanks for being there. Sorry I can't help any further. Actually, if it is possibly anything to do with its FSUIPC interface (which is unlikely as Jose knows that well and won't have changed it for that version) then an FSUIPC log with IPC Read/Write logging enabled might help -- but keep it a very short session as it will get very big very quickly. It sounds more likely to be related to the MP interface for FS2004, which will be the new bit in version 3 of AIBridge I should think. Regards, Pete
