dc6driver
Hi, I have 3 computers networked running Project Magenta using widefs. I have assiged each computer an IP address per widefs instructions and all works great. My problem is, the only way I have been able to aquire an internet connection is if I change the assiged IP to "obtain IP automatically " in the network connections / local area connection properties window in XP Home addition. Thought I would ask here since most everyone here has it figured out. Thanks, Fritz
Pete Dowson
Hi,I have 3 computers networked running Project Magenta using widefs. I have assiged each computer an IP address per widefs instructions and all works great. That is only because, in general, it is more efficiebt. If you alow the system to assign them, then all the PCs periodically send out inquiries about the connections that exist. This creates more load and stuttering in FS. It really isn't related to anything in WideFS or WideFS needs at all, only FS performance. My problem is, the only way I have been able to aquire an internet connection is if I change the assiged IP to "obtain IP automatically " in the network connections / local area connection properties window in XP Home addition. Are you using a router? Just reconfigure that too -- give it an IP address and turn off its need to search for IP addresses. Regards Pete
