George McComb Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I have a purchased copy of the subject program and I want to upgrade to the newest version (3.65). Could you please direct me to the page number in your FSUIPC User Guide that will guide me through this operation? My main concern and/or questions are… do I loose all the settings that I now have programmed into the older version. Do I have to start from scratch and reinstall and then register the new version again as well as re-program everything that I had in the old version? Can I just install the new FSUIPC.dll in the modules folder and overwrite the existing FSUIPC.dll file with the newer version. What do I do with the FSUIPC.INI and FSUIPC.KEY files? Bottom line is…I need guidance and help on exactly what to do, again please direct me to the appropriate instructions or respond via e-mail or a posting here. Thank you George McComb edwardmc@twcny.rr.com
Pete Dowson Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I have a purchased copy of the subject program and I want to upgrade to the newest version (3.65).Could you please direct me to the page number in your FSUIPC User Guide that will guide me through this operation? It's called "Installation", and consists of just one step -- copy the FSUIPC.DLL out of the ZIP and put it into the FS Modules folder. It will overwrite the previous one. Hey, Presto! You are upgraded! That's all there is to it and all there ever has been -- and it is the same with all of my programs and modules. Why make it more complicated than it needs to be? ;-) My main concern and/or questions are… do I loose all the settings that I now have programmed into the older version. Only if you delete them. Just don't delete anything. your settings are in the FSUIPC.INI file -- if you delete that, you lose them all. Do I have to start from scratch and reinstall and then register the new version again as well as re-program everything that I had in the old version? No. Can I just install the new FSUIPC.dll in the modules folder and overwrite the existing FSUIPC.dll file with the newer version. Yes. What do I do with the FSUIPC.INI and FSUIPC.KEY files? Leave them where they are. Make safety backups of them too, of course. Regards Pete
