JWBradley3 Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 I am trying to use Squawk Box v2.3b with MSFS 2000 v7.00. I have FSUIPC v3.7.0.0 and get two errors that keep me from flying in the vATC system. 1. I have the MSFS menu MODULES error described before. I've tried all workaround suggested, and have the Dr Watson log to show the error..But who do I send it to? i trie dto attach it here, but it didn't seem to work. 2. MSFS runs fine, as long as I don't try to access the MODULES menu (above). But, when I open Squawb Box, I get a tiny blank error window which allows be only to "Override", then I get an error: "FSUIPC Access Error! One or more programs your are using is not authorized for access to an unregistered copy of FSUIPC. Please see the FSUIPC.LOG for details." I did, but no joy. Also, as far as I know, the only software involved with this whole matter is Squawk Box and MSFS2000. When I run SBox anyway, I can log into a VATSIM server
JWBradley3 Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 ...Not sure where the rest of my post went but: I can log into Squabbox servers, but I do not show up on their scopes. Nor does the FMS know my position. As far as I know, the only software using the FSUIPC is MSFS2k and SquawkBox. Help! John Bradley USAF Pilot (not virtual!)
JWBradley3 Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 Let's try to upload the Dr Watson log one last time... John Bradley
Pete Dowson Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 I am trying to use Squawk Box v2.3b with MSFS 2000 v7.00.I have FSUIPC v3.7.0.0 and get two errors that keep me from flying in the vATC system. 1. I have the MSFS menu MODULES error described before. Described before where? This is the first message in this thread!! "FSUIPC Access Error! One or more programs your are using is not authorized for access to an unregistered copy of FSUIPC. Please see the FSUIPC.LOG for details." This simply means that you have failed to enter the Key to allow Squawkbox to talk to FSUIPC. See the Freeware keys list above, and refer to the FSUIPC user guide for how to enter it. Pete
Pete Dowson Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Let's try to upload the Dr Watson log one last time...John Bradley What "DrWatson" log? It is the FSUIPC Log that is relevant, and that is in the FS modules folder. It is a plain text file, you can look at it and show bits here. In any case, if your only problem is access permission, please use the freeware key provided -- check the announcements/stickies at the top of the forum. Pete
JWBradley3 Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 Pete, You're correct on all accounts. I found the Squawk Box key in the sticky section, and that was the first email in the thread. What I meant to say was I have the MODULES menu problem discussed int he FSUIPC user guide...it causes MSFS2k to lock up when I try to enter my key. Actually, before I can try to enter the key, it locks up if I select FSUIPC from the MODULES menu. I tried to de-select HIDE MENU BAR by right clicking on an "outside"(?) window, but right-clicking doesn't do anything. I read in your guide: ====================== FSUIPC menu access problem on FS2000 It appears that there is a problem with FS2000 (only) sometimes crashing if the FSUIPC menu entry is opened. I have managed to reproduce this, but the problem is somewhere so deep within FS2002’s many layers that I have not been able to solve it. However, a reliable work-around has been found and verified. Before trying to go into FSUIPC’s options, right-click on the outside view and uncheck the “Hide Menu” entry. This will allow you to get into the FSUIPC option pages. Do not try to move the window around—that seems to also make FS2000 unstable. After exiting the FSUIPC options you can safely re-enable the “hide Menu” option. =============== but I'm not sure what an "outside view" is. I tried working a chase ship view or something, but not sure what right-clicking is supposed to do. If I right-click the cockpit or chase ship view, the HID MENU BAR is not selected. Pete Dowson Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 I found the Squawk Box key in the sticky section, and that was the first email in the thread. Erno it wasn't. The first message, just above, contains only this: I am trying to use Squawk Box v2.3b with MSFS 2000 v7.00. I have FSUIPC v3.7.0.0 and get two errors that keep me from flying in the vATC system. 1. I have the MSFS menu MODULES error described before. Also, as far as I know, the only software involved with this whole matter is Squawk Box and MSFS2000. When I run SBox anyway, I can log into a VATSIM server This seems to assume some earlier messages in the thread, but there are none. Maybe you started a new thread by mistake? What I meant to say was I have the MODULES menu problem discussed int he FSUIPC user guide...it causes MSFS2k to lock up when I try to enter my key. Actually, before I can try to enter the key, it locks up if I select FSUIPC from the MODULES menu. Oh, that problem. Right ... I tried to de-select HIDE MENU BAR by right clicking on an "outside"(?) window, but right-clicking doesn't do anything. Erwhy the "?" on "outside window". The window that shows the outside -- the scenery, the view through the front window? How have you hidden the menu bar if you've never found out about the right-click menu? If I cannot enter the FSUIPC menu in the MODULES menu bar, how can I enter the SquawkBox key? You can edit the FSUIPC.KEY file (in the FS Modules folder). Just add a line in the [Programs] section (add that line too if it isn't there). The registration line to add is =KEY For example squawkthing=ABCDEFG12345 No spaces, just the name and the key as listed in the Freeware keys list. But please do try to unhide the menu -- I can't understand how you can possibly not know about that FS facility? Regards, Pete
JWBradley3 Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 Pete, There was no key file so I created one using wordpad. I saved it under fsuipc.key and here is the full text in the file: =============================== [PROGRAMS] squawkbox=LWVQ7I2V9GPB =============================== It still does not seem to report my lat\long to the Squawkbox server since I cannot pull up the lat\long in the position page, nor do I show up on the SBox map. I understan the right-clicking. I thought that since I was right-clicking in the outside window, but the HIDE MENU was already de-selected, I must have been doing something wrong, since I couldn't de-select the item that was already de-selected. I appreciate your patience while helping me with this. Omar

What does the FSUIPC Log file show please? All the details are in there. Pete
