brannons Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 I purchased and registered widefs 6.70 and fsuipc4.03. My computers are on the same subnet and can ping eachother fine. The wide fs client isn't connecting to the server with fsx and Widefs built in. The fs box where the fsuipc4.03 just says waiting to connect? What am I donig wrong. I did edit the widefsclient.ini tp point to my fsx box. Still no luck.
Pete Dowson Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 What am I donig wrong. I don't know. Show me the WideServer and Wideclient Logs, and the [WideServer] part of the FSUIPC4.INI file and the WideClient.INI file. Pete
brannons Posted November 15, 2006 Author Report Posted November 15, 2006 I resolved the issue. My pc's could ping eachother fine, but the widefs client pc was a member of my work domain, while my fsx pc was a member of a workgroup. I loaded the client on another pc in the same workgroup as my fsx pc.
Pete Dowson Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 I resolved the issue. I loaded the client on another pc in the same workgroup as my fsx pc. Right. The broadcasted mailshots used by WideServer to "announce its presence" so that clients can connect to it cannot cross Workgroups it seems. I originally thought nothing crossed workgroups (all my PCs are always on the same one), but it seems folks can get around it by specifying the ServerName and Protocol in the Wideclient.INI file -- that stops WideClient just listening for a Server and makes it try to connect to the one specified.
