Mr. Dowson,

I am having the same trouble with the Addon menu in FSX

I have removed all firewall and antivirus software.

Below is the FSUIPC log and DLL files.

I made a simconnect.ini file as reported and do not see any simconnect log file anyware.

I know you are extremely busy, and would appreciate any time you may have to take a quick peak and provide me with any pointers.

I would like to pay for your software but am trying to get this working first.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

I made a simconnect.ini file as reported and do not see any simconnect log file anyware.

Sounds like a bad install of FSX then. If you have the Deluxe edition you could try re-installing SimConnect by getting the SimConnect.msi file from the SDK and executing that. It might be a good idea to first find the Windows folder which contains the SimConnect.dll fiel 9do a search in Explorer), and deleting the folder entirely.

The only other thing I see you have which is presumably using SimConnect is "FeelThere\Legacy\LegacyXHUD.dll". Does that work? Does FSUIPC4 work if you rename that? Are you running any other SimConnect programs externally to FSX?

I'm afraid I'm away now until Sunday night at the earliest. Good luck!

Sir,

Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated!!

I have deleted the simconnect.dll file via deleting the folder it resides in.

Then re-installed simconnect through SDK.

Still No luck.

I cannot get anything to work including the feel there aircraft, FSUIPC, Active Sky or goflight modules. So you can see I am pulling my hair out.

I do have the traffic tools option at the top of the menu bar in FSX after installing the SDK.

Do you think a complete reinstall of FSX would help?

Where are the TCP settings that folks talk of that I might be able to check?

I have put a call into Microsoft tech support, and after 60 minutes on hold I had to hang up. They have a trouble ticket from me so I guess I will sit on hold again and see if I can't get through.

I know everybody wants your help and you are very busy, so any time that you may have to point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Scott

Something is blocking SimConnect then. It sounds EXACTLY like a firewall type access problem. You said you uninstalled your firewall and virus checkers? Are you sure?

If it isn't some security problem then it is either something wrong with the FSX installation, or just possibly ONE of your FSX SimConnect clients is somehow blocking the others.

Did you try what I suggested, renaming the module "FeelThere\Legacy\LegacyXHUD.dll"?

Also try re-installing FSUIPC -- but download the version 4.062 from the Announcements above. The installer now checks for and fixes a "simconnect.xml" file if one has been installed for remote connection to the exclusion of a local connection.

You could also try getting a SimConnect Log (the method is described in the "FSX Help" announcement at the top of this Forum). I'll look at that for you if you can get one.

So you can see I am pulling my hair out.

Ah, you are lucky to have hair to pull out! However, better to save your energies for putting all this data into a report for Microsoft. Describe your system and the symptoms and provde the SimConnect Log, and send to tell_fs@microsoft.com. Hopefully it will help them fix all these things in the hoped-for update in the New Year. Don't expect a reply.

I do have the traffic tools option at the top of the menu bar in FSX after installing the SDK.

TrafficToolbox doesn't use SimConnect, it is only using the Load facilities to get running. The other SimConnect clients are also running -- it is just that SimConnect is not talking to them.

Do you think a complete reinstall of FSX would help?

Well, you've tried re-installing SimConnect and that usually helps. First try with only ONE client at a time -- EITHER the FeelThere DLL, or FSUIPC, or GoFlight. It seems that SimConnect has a problem with more than one in some systems. If it doesn't even work with one, then, yes, try a complete re-install.

Where are the TCP settings that folks talk of that I might be able to check?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The TCP/IP stuff only comes into it in the sense that it is that part blocked by firewall and privacy programs, which you say you unimstalled?

I have put a call into Microsoft tech support, and after 60 minutes on hold I had to hang up. They have a trouble ticket from me so I guess I will sit on hold again and see if I can't get through.

I doubt if they can actually fix bugs in FSX without waiting for the bug fixed code from the FS team, which certainly isn't expected till the New Year. However, if this is primarily a configuration issue on your PC they may just be able to help, but please don't actually expect anything.

Pete,

Thank you for your help.

I have downloaded latest version of FSUIPC.....no luck there

Renamed FSUIPC.DLL..... the FeelThere aircraft did not work

I was not able to get FSUIPC to work in FSX before I recently installed the FeelThere aircraft in FSX.

The last thing that is strange, is I cannot get a simconnect log file. I have checked the process ten times, and made sure I have followed the directions carefully. I have looked everyware and done a search through windows.

I get the feeling like you stated that it might be a setting in the computer or I at this point need to try a complete reinstall of FSX.

Your thoughts,

Thanks in advance,

Scott

It sounds like SimConnect is not properly installed then. I can only suggest trying to re-install it -- see the FSX help at the top of the Forum. If you do choose to reinstall FSX completely, do the deletion of that Simconnect path first, as I don't think the FSX uninstall cleans that up at all.

Pete
