jabjoker Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Pete, I installed Windows Vista on my computer and cannot register FSUICP after I re-installed my FSX & FSUICP, it tells me that I must Log back on as the system administrator. First off all I do not know how to do this, but I do know that you can run a program in Vista using the "Run as administrator" option by right clicking on the icon. Your assitance would be appreciated Regards Hans Brokke Johannesburg South Africa
Pete Dowson Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 I installed Windows Vista on my computer and cannot register FSUICP after I re-installed my FSX & FSUICP, it tells me that I must Log back on as the system administrator. First off all I do not know how to do this, but I do know that you can run a program in Vista using the "Run as administrator" option by right clicking on the icon. Are you using FSUIPC 4.08 or 4.081? If not, do so. If you read the Installation section of the FSUIPC4 User Guide it does explain that you need elevated privileges to register FSUIPC4 in Vista, and it does mention the "Run As". Everyone else who has done this has been successful. Regards Pete
jabjoker Posted March 12, 2007 Author Report Posted March 12, 2007 Hi Pete, I have re-installed as suggested, I even altered the properties of the FSUICP Install file by right-clicking on it and selecting "properties ". I then edited the Security setting allowing "full control" to the listed Group or User Names. I then went ahead and ran the install file by right-clicking on it and using "run as administrator" option. But to no avail still cannot register it. Below please find the content of the FSUICP Config file & FSUICP txt document located in the Flight Simulator X directory. Pete Dowson Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 I have re-installed as suggested I did not suggest any re-install! Your original installation was fine. I thought you said you couldn't register, that was all. That is nothing to do with the install file. As the instructions clearly state, you must run FSX and register in the Add-Ons options for FSUIPC. I even altered the properties of the FSUICP Install file by right-clicking on it and selecting "properties ". I then edited the Security setting allowing "full control" to the listed Group or User Names. I then went ahead and ran the install file by right-clicking on it and using "run as administrator" option. But to no avail still cannot register it. That was all a complete waste of time. The installer worked first time. It is NOT the installation that does the Registering! Please read the instructions, supplied with the program, which are very clear. After installing, you need to register INSIDE FSX! You need to run FSX as Administrator, not the installer (which worked in any case)! Please please please do read the instructions which are supplied to help you do these simple things. I have no idea what you were thinking of to play around with the installer! Below please find the content of the FSUICP Config file & FSUICP txt document located in the Flight Simulator X directory. None of that is at all relevant except to confirm that FSUIPC4 is installed corectly, but not yet registered! Regards Pete
jabjoker Posted March 13, 2007 Author Report Posted March 13, 2007 Hi Pete, How dense of me, I did read the document, not once but several times, It is amazing how the brain or lack of it comprehends something. Kept on reading that I must run FSUICP in administrative mode. Thank you!
