for over a year and still can't get roger wilco correct.

Server ini

; -----------------------------------------------

[user]

Log=no

Actionkeys=Yes

KeySend1=90

keysend2=90,1

;90 =>"Z" key for rw press to talk. Have deleted the FS autopilot assignment as being Z

Client ini

[user]

Log=no

;Run1=C:\Program Files\Resounding\Roger Wilco\roger.exe

;Run1=c:\program files\microsoft games\wideclient\TrafficLook.exe

;Run2=c:\program files\microsoft games\wideclient\trafficmap\pmTCAS.exe

Run2=C:\junk11\sb2.2\squawkbox.exe

Actionkeys=Yes

KeySend1=RWon

KeySend2=RWoff

I now start rw manually because I need widefs for off line applications also, like the fsgarmin and fsflightmax. The widefs is working correctly and providing fsuipc data to them.

We are using the old version of rw, mklc_mod1 to avoid the Gator spyware issue.

In fsuipc we are not using "Hot Keys", "Buttons", or "Keys" functions.

Thanks for helping.

My guess (and it is only that) is that the internal class name or window name that wide client is using to look for roger wilco is different in your hacked apart version...

Two things you could try:

1 - Don't use RWon/RWoff, set a PPT key in RW, and then use the keysend facility to write to the roger.exe process, just like any other process, as described in detail in the documentation. You may need to get wide client to start roger.exe so it knows the window handle.

2. Try the proper version of RW and see if it works, then you know for sure where the problem is, and know where to direct your energies.

Thanks for the comments Stuart.

Couple of questoins:

1. Is my ini files correct?

2. You say 'proper' RW file. Can I get one without the spyware gator? Where? The current version doesn't seem to work with VATSIN online flying.

Thanks

Erk, Sorry I misread your mesage, I thought you were using an 'unoffical RW', but you are just using an early version. That should be okay.

What versions of wideclient and wideserver ar you using?

You INI files look okay at a glance, I will study them a bit more closely later today, and try and replicate what your doing on my systems.

No, all recent versions of Wideclient use a pair of Registered messages which RW responds to. It doesn't use KeyStrokes at all when you use the keywords RWon and RWoff. There are two different pairs of Registered Message names I found in the copies of RW I looked at (Mark 1 and Mark 1c). I try both sets. The allocation of the PTT key in RW is actually irrelevant.

The following ini(s) do everything I need except the PTT function for me.

Cleint machine is running 98 First edition and server is 98 Second edition. Both have been updated from MS less then 2 weeks ago.

I don't see what I am doing wrong. If only someone could point out the error so I can have PTT. ;-)

Looks like it should work. Have you tried programming the Server side through FSUIPC "Keys" programming instead? Worth a try. Remove the SendKeys from WideServer.ini (NOT WideClient) and program the keys in the FSUIPC Keys option page instead. You'll find entries in the drop-down Controls lists allowing you to select KEYSEND for WideFS and give the KeySend number as a parameter -- both press and release can be programmed on the same page.

To eliminate problems on the WideFS bit, you could try (just as a test), making a copy of Roger Wilco on the FS PC and seeing if the "Roger Wilco Transmit" On/Off controls in FSUIPC's Keys page work with it.

If not, then it may be that the version of RW you are using doesn't support the control messages I know about. In that case perhaps you could Zip up the RW folder, or at least the EXE, and send it to me so I can work it out here. petedowson@btconnect.com.
