Sorry, I've no idea. Certainly the files in the FSUIPC.ZIP are in no way protected against you extracting them. Maybe your Modules folder is write protected? Try changing folder access permissions. COA4399 Posted September 16, 2007 Author Report Posted September 16, 2007 Hi Pete, Ok,....I finally got to the bottom of this problem, though i haven't figured it out yet. In trying to find the culprit, i ended up first deleting one file at a time inside the Main Fs9 folder, then trying to install my new Fsuipc 3.75, after each try. I ended up deleting all files in the Main folder, with the exception of 3 files that are telling me "Access Denied"....1- the main "Texture" folder, 2- the main "Gauge" folder and 3- The "Modules' folder. So, each folder had a file inside that would not delete ie: Magnetic_compass.gau etc. I then restarted my computer, did the password entry code, hit the F8 key, made sure that i had "Administrator Rights" and went into "Safe Mode". Once in safe mode i was finally able to delete all 3 folders....WHEW!!...I then re-started my computer and did a fresh install of Fs9.....I hated to delete all my add-ons,.....but i had to delete 1 file at a time to try to find the add-on thats causing the problem, so i would not re-install it.....but its still a mystery, but at least i'm flying again......Thnx for your help Pete....regards....jon :D

Stuff like that used to happen sometimes with Win95 if you copied stuff directly from a read-only medium (like a CDRom), but I've never heard of it happening spuriously since. It sounds like a bit of directory file corruption on disk. Also, in any case, if there was no "FSUIPC.DLL" already in the Modules folder, marked read-only, you should have been able to place your new copy there without a problem. It sounded more like the folder itself being so marked. ...but its still a mystery, but at least i'm flying again Okay. Good. Well done. Regards Pete
COA4399 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 Ok,....I finally found the culprit, it is from "Historic Jetliners".com,....an airplane they have....HJG Convair 880 V1. One of the repaints for this aircraft is a paint of Elvis Presley's "Lisa Marie" Convair 880, which he used to use for travel while on tour. This repaint is write protected-"Access Denied" for some reason. You can delete the aircraft folder easily, until you install the repaint into the folder, then it becomes- Access Denied. This in turn locks out 3 files in your Texture, Gauge and Module folders also. This is a shame, because this aircraft is a beautiful smooth aircraft to fly, too bad one repaint messes up Fs9 like it does. I'm gonna get o hold of HJG and see if this is a problem on their end, hopefully they can help......and i was able to successfully install my Fsuipc 3,75 ok, but i'm gonna have to get in contact with SM, as the key is not working, the key i received with my payment receipt....hopefully the emailed key will work when i recieve it. regards...jon :D
