titan4305 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Hello Mr Dowson, I am writing an external program to control FSX weather. As with FS2004 I am running into the same problems with FSX in that any attempt to set cloud layers or precip results in a clear CAVOK day with the simulation or weather engine generally ignoring any writes to it. Since your AWI exe seems to have a fairly consistent success rate at writing weather to either sim platform, would it be possible to compile AWI as a DLL rather than an exe so that it may be called from any windows development environment? regards, Chris Benton

Sounds like you have the command formatting incorrect. But the AWI is not good for FS2004 and certainly not for FSX. Please change over to the NWI, which is used very successfully by prominent programs such as ActiveSky 6.5, FSMeteo and so on. It is also much easier, being an offset-mapped system just like the rest of FSUIPC's interface, whilst AWI was an attempt to build a command/response type of system onto it, making it far too complex. It was designed for FS2000 -- i.e. a long time ago! Regards Pete
