jakamph Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Hello. I have an application that reads and writes values through the previous (FS '04) version of FSUIPC. I was thinking about upgrading to FSX, but wanted to know if my app would work with the new version of FSUIPC (total cost of purchase and time being valuable, you know). Are the function calls backwards compatible for reading and writing values from version to version of FSUIPC so that I can use my application with a minimal amount of code work? Thanks for your time. jason
Pete Dowson Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Are the function calls backwards compatible for reading and writing values from version to version of FSUIPC so that I can use my application with a minimal amount of code work? Yes. That's the whole point of FSUIPC. It's grown from beginnings in FS98 times all the way through. If it wasn't offering compatibility for its client programs there would be little point in continuing it, with SimConnect from Microsoft offering an interface for the future in any case. There are of course many extra bits for FSX, but pretty much all (but not quite all, as yet) of the FS2004 bits are there in the FSX version too. see the FSX Downloads announcement above for some extra SDK bits and pieces covering this subject. Regards Pete
