nessa Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Hi all, I am considering the task of inputting flight data (for mulitple air craft) from an external data stream into MSFS2002 so that the aircraft can be visually represented. For the data input I am currently investigating both NetPipes SDK and FSUIPC (which has led me to this forum), the only way I can see thus far to handle multiple aircraft is to use the Multiplayer SDK. I have searched this and other forums quite extensively and I have yet read a post where someone claims they can do the very thing I am after. It seems it is one thing to read data in and visualise one air craft but to do this for multiple air craft is another matter. Using the multiplayer SDK doesn't seem like an efficient way of doing what I am proposing even if it is possible. As an alternative, can anyone on this forum tell me if it is possible to create AI Traffic that can be manipulated from a live stream? If anyone has experience with implementing something along these lines I would appreciate any suggestions/direction etc. Pete, I realise your support is limited to the FSUIPC product, but if you can tell me whether or not this product will be of use to me or not in this scenario it would be appreciated.
Pete Dowson Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Sorry for the delay in replying -- as mentioned in the Announcements above, my wife and I were off touring Argentina & Chile (by steam trains where possible) immediately after I returned to the UK from the AVSIM FanCon in Seattle. I am considering the task of inputting flight data (for mulitple air craft) from an external data stream into MSFS2002 so that the aircraft can be visually represented. Yes, you have to use the multiplayer interface to FS. There is no other way. As an alternative, can anyone on this forum tell me if it is possible to create AI Traffic that can be manipulated from a live stream? No way I know of except in FSX, where this is specifically catered for. Pete, I realise your support is limited to the FSUIPC product Well, not quite. I was made a Microsoft MVP because I try to help where I can. And in any case FSUIPC is only one of many of my own FS contributions. Unfortunately, though, multiplayer is something I know almost nothing at all about, excpet that it is designed to do exactly what you want. but if you can tell me whether or not this product will be of use to me or not in this scenario it would be appreciated. No, no use at all I'm afraid. Multiplayer in FS2002 and FS2004 is designed specifically for exactly what you want to do. In FSX is it via SimConnect instead. Regards Pete
