Pete Dowson Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 i can´t install fsuipc 4 into FSX. A Message apears, that my FSX Vers. isn´t correct, also the SimConnect is wrong (or stuff like this) I have made a screen-shot of the Message and can send it to you via e-Mail No thank you. It won't say both, but it sounds vaguely like your FSX SimConnect installation is corrupted. I don't want to see pictures -- the Installer creates a Log file, which may be in your FSX Modules folder. If so, show it to me here. If not, then when you get the error, click on the Save menu entry on the Log shown on screen, save it to a text file somewhere easy for you to find, then show it to me here. Just paste the contents here. No pictures please. Pete
siemueller Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 Hello Peter, i send you a text file with the error-Message with this Mail. The second little window that appears show as followed: "Your FSX Inst. is incorrect ! The Vers. of >SimConnect installed will not load FSUIPC4 . You may need to repair the FSX Inst. to rectify this first. No changes ....." I have to tell you, that i did not found a "Modules"- Foulder in my FSX Inst. I had repaired my FSX, deinstalled and reinstalled and SP1 . No changes to the message above ! Thank you for your gentle help. Best regards Siemueller
Pete Dowson Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Hello Peter, i send you a text file with the error-Message with this Mail. No no no! Please re-read my message above! :-( The second little window that appears show as followed: "Your FSX Inst. is incorrect ! The Vers. of >SimConnect installed will not load FSUIPC4 . You may need to repair the FSX Inst. to rectify this first. No changes ....." Seems you have a broken FSX installation, without a working base version SimConnect. You will need to repair it. First see the "FSX Help" announcement above. You need to delete one of the SimConnect side-by-side folders, else it won't be repaired. I have to tell you, that i did not found a "Modules"- Foulder in my FSX Inst. There won't be one until the FSUIPC4 Installer creates one. If it hasn't even got as far as that you have problems. Since you couldn't find that, why didn't you save the Log file, as I asked, and paste it into your message, also as I asked? I cannot help further without that information -- it is produced EXACTLY so that all the relevant information is available. If you continue to ignore it we will get no where! :-( Pete
siemueller Posted February 21, 2008 Author Report Posted February 21, 2008 Ok,- i will try again to send you the logfile.Sorry, i didn´t understood it right!
Pete Dowson Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Ok,- i will try again to send you the logfile. No, don't try to send any file. Just open it, in Notepad perhaps, then cut and paste its contents into a message here. Pete

Pete Dowson Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Ok ! Ok what? Please cut and paste the complete install log into a message here. Then maybe I can help you. Pete

Found later build SimConnect 61242 (SP1 May07)
Pete Dowson Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.20 Okay, first off 4.20 is out of date and unsupported. You should be using 4.25 at least. Second, this error: Checking compatibility with installed SimConnect: ... Probe Manifest fails to match a valid base SimConnect needed to load FSUIPC4! is very serious. It means your installation of FSX is corrupted. Have you been uninstalling and reinstalling it or moving it about? The main part of SimConnect, installed with the original DVD copy of FSX, is missing or wrongly installed. If you have the DeLuxe version of FSX you can try re-installing just the SimConnect from the SDK on the first DVD. You will have to install the SDK first, then find the "SimConnect.msi" file in the "core Utilities" part. Execute the SimConnect.msi and it should re-install the broken part. (Note that if you are already using the SDK, and have installed the SP1A SDK to match your SP1, then you want the RTM version of SimConnect.msi form the appropriate SDK folder). If that doesn't work, the only other way I know to fix this is to first uninstall SP1, then delete the bad WinSxS folders, and then run the original FSX installer to repair it. Test it. If it is then okay you can reinstall SP1 and re-test. Please refer to the "FSX Help" Announcement above. It tells you where the folders to be deleted are. Note that if you are using Vista you will need to run Explorer "as Administrator" to get privileges enough to do this. Regards Pete
hehhfk Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I have the same problem, I did what you said but the problem will not be solved.
Pete Dowson Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I have the same problem, I did what you said but the problem will not be solved. I'm afraid, then, it becomes a matter for Microsoft support. Regards Pete
siemueller Posted February 25, 2008 Author Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hallo Pete, i´ve installed the SDK from Disk 1 (setup) and after this i installed the FSUIPC4.25 - and it works without any error message. The modules folder is there where it should be! This afternoon i will install my add-ons and we will see if everything is fine! Thank you for now and best regards siemueller
axr33 Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Good morning I have to report that i can't install the FSUIPC 4.25 on a brand new FSX installation! Exactly the same problem as reported before! The content of the install log file: Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.25 Looking in registry for FSX install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 Parameter"SetupPath" SetupPath="C:\GAMES\FSX\" Checking version of FSX.EXE: ... Version 10.0.61637.0 (Need at least 10.0.60905.0) Checking compatibility with installed SimConnect: ... Probe Manifest fails to match a valid base SimConnect needed to load FSUIPC4! That means to me this problem is reproducable. My FSX installation is not corrupt, because it is 3 hours old (installation from original FSX Deluxe DVD, thereafter SP1 and finally the acceleration pack installed), no 3rd party software, no add-ons, just pure and newest microsoft stuff! I use Windows XP Pro, Version 2002, SP2. What can i do to get the installation of the FSUIPC working? Thank you for your answers Rolf
Pete Dowson Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 ... Probe Manifest fails to match a valid base SimConnect needed to load FSUIPC4!My FSX installation is not corrupt, because it is 3 hours old (installation from original FSX Deluxe DVD, thereafter SP1 and finally the acceleration pack installed), no 3rd party software, no add-ons, just pure and newest microsoft stuff! Well, your base SimConnect is most certainly not working, and that is part of the "microsoft stuff", nothing to do with FSUIPC. Most if not all SimConnect using add-ons will have the same problem. And it is not a "pristine" install of FSX -- quite a few folks report problems after installing the updates. SP1 does not have to be installed before Acceleration, BTW -- the latter includes it. I suspect doing both can sometimes aggravate the problem. If you want to try repairing it then, since you have the Deluxe FSX DVD, you can try to find the SimConnect.msi file and reinstall SimConnect. If you've already installed the SDK then it will be on your disk. Otherwise the only way I know is to follow the recommendations in my "FSX Help" Announcement. Just find and remove the base (60905) SimConnect and run the DVD. I think you should also complain to Microsoft via tell_fs@microsoft.com. If you cannot get further whatever you do I suggest you contact Microsoft's own support. It is getting really painful try to support such an error prone installation system, all of MS's own doing. :-( Regards Pete
axr33 Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Hello Pete First off all, i would like to thank you for your quick answer. I agree with you, the problem ist most probably caused by the SimConnect. And of course, Microsoft is not perfect! Since i was an software engineer in my earlier live (now, i am an Airline Pilot on a medium size jet), i understand the problem of software updates: you solve a problem on one side, and on an other side, you just create new (unexpected) ones ... As a logical consequence, we should try to install FSUIPC on an FSX installation without any service packs. I don't have installed the SDK, and i think, i don't want to do that now. I will try to fix the SimConnect installation, i will report the result asap. Thank you and kind regards, Rolf
axr33 Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Hello again Finally, i managed it to install the FSUIPC 4.25 on the FSX SP2 installation. First of all, i installed the whole SDK package from the DVD, but the problem was the same as before --> the installation of the SDK is no solution for this problem! But now, here is the way, how it works 100%: 1st step Copy the file SimConnect.dll from the subfolder SXS on your FSX Disk1 into the folder C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9 2nd step Copy the 2 files SimConnect.cat and SimConnect.Manifest from the subfolder SXS on your FSX Disk1 into the folder C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\Manifests 3rd step Rename the just copied file SimConnect.Manifest in the directory C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\Manifests to x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9.Manifest Rename the just copied file SimConnect.cat in the directory C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\Manifests to x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9.cat That's all! Now, installation of FSUIPC 4.25 was no problem anymore! OK, the routine did not accept my registration key for the module FSUIPC, but that is probably another story :-o and need a new topic. By the way, installation of the SDK via the installation route did not copy any files to the folder C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9, the directory was empty after installation! But in the documentation of the SDK, you will find a very nice description of the SimConnect functions. Kind regards, Rolf
Pete Dowson Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 But now, here is the way, how it works 100%: Yesdo you know, as far as I can fathom, those steps are pretty much EXACTLY what the Microsoft SimConnect installer (SimConnect.msi) is supposed to do? And that installer runs when you install FSX. XXXX knows what happens to make it go so wrong! Now, installation of FSUIPC 4.25 was no problem anymore! OK, the routine did not accept my registration key for the module FSUIPC, but that is probably another story :-o and need a new topic. Okay. But before you start one, make sure ALL THREE fields -- name, email, Key -- are exactly right! By the way, installation of the SDK via the installation route did not copy any files to the folder C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9,the directory was empty after installation! No, SDK installation doesn't install SimConnect, as it assumes FSX install installed that. But in the "Core Utilities" part of the installed SDK you should find "SimConnect.msi", which is the SimConnect installer. Regards Pete
axr33 Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Hello Pete Thank you for your very quick answer. Yesdo you know, as far as I can fathom, those steps are pretty much EXACTLY what the Microsoft SimConnect installer (SimConnect.msi) is supposed to do? And that installer runs when you install FSX. XXXX knows what happens to make it go so wrong! You say it 100% right: is supposed to do! But, it doesn't, thank you, microsoft! I could write a small routine who will perform all the necessary steps automatically, or you could implement it in your installer too, what do you think? I can design this routine that it asks for the original FSX Disk 1 for copying the files, because otherwise, i think, it will be a problem to distribute coyrighted files from microsoft. I can't check the installation-routine of SimConnect.msi anymore, because in the meantime, i already de-installed the SDK-Pack, i am not interested in developing software, i did it for a long time of my life, started with COBOL, RPG II and ended with complexe SQL on Oracle databases. For the installation of the key: yes, of course, i know that the username, email and key must be exactly spelled. I have to check later what the problem is, or i just buy a new key ;-) . Kind regards, Rolf
Pete Dowson Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 I could write a small routine who will perform all the necessary steps automatically, or you could implement it in your installer too, what do you think? Really, it isn't something I'd want to do in an independent installer -- FSX is supposed to be "completely" working first! (!) However, if you do produce something I'd be glad to host it or provide a link to it. ... otherwise, i think, it will be a problem to distribute coyrighted files from microsoft. Yes, correct, you cannot include any MS files. You have to read them from the DVD. I have to check later what the problem is, or i just buy a new key ;-) . No, if you have an FSUIPC4 key you should not. Of course, if it is an FSUIPC3 key it will not work with FSUIPC4. Regards Pete
