jmustoe Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Hi there, Has anyone ever noticed that in FS2004 and FSX that if you save during a flight and then reload this flight your engines re spool? (Try it and see for yourself, I fly 737) Now my question is can this re spooling be stopped through any of the settings in fsuipc? The reason I ask is I want to be able to position the aircraft for instance on the glide scope and practice my approaches. I save my flight as I intercept the glide scope and then when I reload this the engines re spool. This re spooling action buggers up my aircrafts configuration. I understand in fsuipc I have control over setting Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Pitch, Bank, Heading, and I have used these offsets to set the aircraft on a specific glide scope, but I'm unsure as to how I get the engines and airspeed the way I want them for my approach (and without the N1 and N2 dropping off and re spooling). Thanks in advance. Regards
Pete Dowson Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Now my question is can this re spooling be stopped through any of the settings in fsuipc? Shouldn't think so. Loading a flight directly sets so many things inside the sim engine out of reach of FSUIPC or anything else that if it can't be done by flight loading then I don't see how it can be done any other way. I can actually say that I have never noticed any "re-spooling" in any case, and I start off with saved flights more often than anything esle in the course of testing facilities. The reason I ask is I want to be able to position the aircraft for instance on the glide scope and practice my approaches. I save my flight as I intercept the glide scope and then when I reload this the engines re spool. This re spooling action buggers up my aircrafts configuration. Hmm. I don't know what is going on there, but you could try pausing before saving so it comes back paused on reload. I understand in fsuipc I have control over setting Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Pitch, Bank, Heading, and I have used these offsets to set the aircraft on a specific glide scope, but I'm unsure as to how I get the engines and airspeed In FSX you can also set airspeed when setting an initial position and attitude, but not in FS2004. I don't know of anyway of presetting all of thev engine values, but they should re-initialise as in the saved flight. There is a facility in FSUIPC for freezing an aircraft's position without affecting its actual engine or other settings. it is still "flying", just not moving at all. This is the usual way of setting up an exercise like approaches. such a feature is actually built into FSX too -- so there are effectively duplicate controls now for freezing -- FSUIPC's and FSX's.
