Hi Pete

I have a problem with getting FSUIPC registered in FS2004. My setup is as follows:

Vista Ultimate 32Bit with SP1 fully updated

FS2004 updated to 9.1

FSX SP2 Accelleration

All latest drivers and bios updates done

What happens is this:

I unzip FSUIPC for FS9 and then copy the DLL to my modules folder.

Start FS9 and go to the modules tab on the menu & select PSUIPC

This brings up the unregistered version

I then enter my name, e-mail address and registration code as received from Simmarket.

Click on Register and close and restart FS9 as instructed.

When I click on the modules tab FSUIPC still appears to be unregistered.

The log file states that the registration key is present.

It sees my name & e-mail address but states that registration is invalid or that FSUIPC is not registered.

I open the keyfile with Wordpad and all the registration detail is in there as required.

This only started happening with the last 2 or 3 updated of FSUIPC for FS9. I have tried to roll back to the older version of FSUIPC but with no success. Before this it used to work perfectly well and the registration was successful the first time. I have looked at the usual file & folder permissions and security setting for Vista and I am logged in as administrator on my machine.

I have also purchased FSUIPC4 for FSX including WideFS and I have absolutely no problem with the registration for FSX.

Maybe I'm overlooking something. What do you suggest I do?

Kind Regards

Please read the Installation instructions in the User Guide more carefully. In particular note the special paragraph for Windows Vista (yes, in red and emboldened so you can't miss it! :-( ) which tells you you must run FS "as Administrator" for registration purposes.

I have looked at the usual file & folder permissions and security setting for Vista and I am logged in as administrator on my machine.

Being an Administrator is not enough. Vista has an "elevated Administrator" level which is needed. It is automatically given to Installers, but not ordinary programs. This is why the emphasised section, which is supposed to be unmissable, is in the documentation.

I have also purchased FSUIPC4 for FSX including WideFS and I have absolutely no problem with the registration for FSX.

Only because I have moved the Registration to the Installer, which has sufficient privileges.

Hi Pete

My humblest apologies. this is what you get if you don't read the paperwork. I'm sorry for wasting your time. Thanks for a great product that makes my life a lot easier with cockpit building project I'm busy with.

Kind Regards

Not a waste. Vista is a bit of a pain, it catches us all out now and then. I've constantly beleaguered by it eve though I've switched UAC and most other things I can find off. Grr!

Regards

Pete
