seconds into the loaded flight and all is well until.....RUNTIME ERROR 2147467259(80004005)B UNABLE TO PLAY THE FILE ON THE DEVICE.

Sounds like a sound problem with Flight School. Check their support. I don't think it uses FSUIPC at all and FSUIPC does not play any sound files.
