Pete Dowson Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Hey Guys, i am pulling my hair out with this one and i really dont know what to do now, i have recently upgraded to FSUIPC 4.30 and registered it, but since upgrading my VAFS VA Account will not connect to flight sim, everytime i try i get the following msg,Failed to connect FSUIPC Error Error Information IPC timed out all retries I've no idea what "VAFS" is -- is that related to FSInn or Squawkbox or something else? Either way, with FSX not running, find the FSUIPC4.LOG file in the FSX Modules folder and paste it here. Regards Pete
mcthyes41 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I run VAFS (Virtual Airline Financial Systems) as well. It comes from the website www.vafinancials.com. I am not so sure that your problem is the same as the previous one reported in this thread, which I think may well be down to an illegal registration of FSUIPC (the submitter never came back, after all). You have not registered FSUIPC, and the log shows everything is fine as far as FSUIPC is concerned. The VAFS folks will need to debug their program from their end. One point. It looks like your FS2004 installation takes a full 3 minutes to load upor was that merely you leaving it that long on the initial menu? Then another minute to load your selected flight. And then, when FS was ready to fly, you only left it for 6 seconds before closing it. surely you didn't manage to load VAFS and see it fail in that short interval? Or else, it may be that you are starting this "VAFS" too early, before FSUIPC is ready. You should probably wait until you are fully ready to fly. Regards Pete
AliHill Posted October 9, 2008 Author Report Posted October 9, 2008 Hi Pete, Thank you for your reply and sorry for the delay in my getting back to you i have been away with work. i have since sorted out my problem, from what i have figured out it was a problem with my fsx not fsuipc or vafs. since i had to reinstall everything on my computer i forgot to run fsx as an administrator on my computer as i am running on vista. since i have done that i no longer get the error msg. this seems to be a common problem with fsx but like i said i have since sorted it out cheers Ali

You really should never have to run FSX "as administrator". If you do run it "as administrator" but then run an FSUIPC client program like VAFS without such privileges, you will certainly get the error you mentioned. Vista does not allow programs of different level of privilege to share memory (which is how FSUIPC interfacing works). It sounds like you were running VAFS "as administrator" and not FSX, but you shouldn't need to run either that way. Regards Pete
