DomSQ
Hello Pete , I have a simple question I hope you can answer about FSUIPC & weather , on another FS board , I was getting stutters threw clouds especially overcast conditions with a 2.66GHZ C2D , 2GB RAM , 500 GB HDD , Overclocked 640MB 8800GTS , Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit , and a resident computer & FS expert called "NickN" gave me a fix , here was the fix he gave me: 1. Buy the latest version of FSUIPC for FS9 2. Buy Flight Environment (Flight1 website) Download, Install, buy and register FSUIPC (open the sim, menu, MODULES - FSUIPC and enter the reg data... close and reopen the sim... open the registered version of FSUIPC to set it up... once complete you must close and reopen the sim: Boot a flight, any flight. Hit the ALT key, Select MODULES - FSUIPC Make the following changes for awesome weather and reduced hit on performance Winds Tab – Smoothing settings: Check in “Smooth wind changes” in the three boxes under that heading, input the following: 5 0 0 Uncheck everything else under the Winds Tab ========================= Visibility Tab General Limits and Extensions: Check in “apply vis limits” add the following numbers in the boxes in this sequence: 6000 4000 2000 1000 Uncheck everything below that and make sure “stop visibility going below” is @ 0 Smoothing Options: Smooth Visibility 10% every 2 sec But after weather is cleared, delay smoothing = 0 Smooth onfiltered= UNCHECKED CHECK “Set Graduated Visibility” Enter the numbers in the boxes in this sequence: 6000 25000 9000 ========================= CLOUDS TAB CHECK IN: Add light cirrus layer EVERYTHING ELSE unchecked and don’t worry about any numbers =============================== TECHNICAL TAB: CHECKS IN THESE BOXES ONLY: Enable V/S Sign Control Spike Elimination (all three) Fix Control Acceleration Additional Facilities area: Check the first 5 boxes in that list. Extend Battery should be set to 0 CHECK IN: Smooth Pressure Changes Enter the following in this order: 5 40 Flight (drop down box) Click OK, close the sim From this point on FSUIPC will integrate into your weather system and will not allow FS9 to pile on layers of clouds which you cant see anyway. This will show up in the sim when you boot a flight and go to set the weather.... you should notice the setting will usually be "user defined weather" no matter what it was set to in the prior flight. FSUIPC has control of the cloud layers and will optimize what ever weather scenario you choose Install FLIGHT ENVIRONMENT I only use it for clouds and sometimes the sky... water tends to be too colorful for my taste When it comes to Flight Environment, IF all you want is the clouds and the extended contrails without the other extras, after you install the program browse to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Flight One Software\Flight Environment\Data Inside the data folder RENAME the following folders: SKY – SUN – WATER to XXSKY – XXSUN – XXWATER That will prevent the program from installing anything but clouds. Run Flight Environment, select the following Cloud Set: Solid Cumulus = Majestic Stratus = Strong Opposition Wispy Edges = Scene One Cirrus = First Choice On the main screen place a check in the following: Create Lower Resolution Clouds Create DXT3 Clouds Extended Contrails Save and Install When you boot a flight in the sim NEVER set weather before you start the flight. ALWAYS boot the entire flight first, THEN once the flight has loaded, click ALT - WORLD – WEATHER and set your weather scheme. You will notice your weather screen will always have a bullet in “user defined weather” That’s normal… its just FSUIPC settings I gave you overriding the crap Microsoft setting… you can select any manual weather pattern or Real World Weather and FSUIPC will override the cloud layer bug without erasing your desired weather. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I just recently got around to purchasing FSUIPC & Flight Environment , well FSUIPC I didn't purchase , my friend gave it me free and it's version 3.75 for FS9 so it's not the latest , anyway I set all the correct settings NickN said to set above for the FSUIPC program & Flight Environment. I have just one small question though for you Pete, when I go into ALT - WORLD - WEATHER ,there's always a BULLET in User Defined Weather which is correct I know , though I can't select any of the Default weather shemes like Fair Weather , Fogged Out ,Winter Wonderland etc without taking the BULLET out of User Defined Weather , & when I do select a Default weather scheme it doesn't show up , example I set "Fogged Out" & it just selects the pre-loaded clear skies still. But that's not the question , I'm glad about that as I always set my weather manually anyway via the User Defined Weather option ,my question is with there always being a BULLET in User Defined Weather and the visibility set to 40 miles by the FSUIPC settings , can I still just set my weather manually like I used to before I set the FSUIPC settings ,example I want 5 miles visability , 4000 ft to 8000 ft stratus ,then 8000 ft to 16000 ft columus ,with light rain as perticipation , and FSUIPC will still have control over the weather & cloud layers so I don't get stutters? That's basically it. Thank You
Pete Dowson
I was getting stutters threw clouds especially overcast conditions with a 2.66GHZ C2D , 2GB RAM , 500 GB HDD , Overclocked 640MB 8800GTS , Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Stutters in FS9? On a machine like that? Could your hard disk have been getting full or badly needing defragmenting? Now I just recently got around to purchasing FSUIPC & Flight Environment , well FSUIPC I didn't purchase , my friend gave it me free That's illegal. The license is sold to a specific user and registered in his name and email or home address. If he"gave" you those details he's in violation of his license, and the registration must be revoked. You are effectively using stolen property. I deliberately didn't go down the road of restricting use of FSUIPC to a particular PC as i think this is unfair on the user -- I prefer it licensed to the person. But that doesn't give any one the right to make copies and give them to friends. That's stealing and is akin to making copies of CDs and DVDs. and it's version 3.75 for FS9 so it's not the latest And it isn't supported either. If you want support you need to purchase your own key and update to the latest version. I'd appreciate it if you'd show me the Key you are using, too, please, so I can revoke it. Otherwise we cannot be on good terms. Pete
DomSQ
Pete , I truly wasn't aware that this is "Stealing" , If I knew this was the case I would'nt have posted it , It just shows my honesty , I thought since the user "My Friend" legally purchased his , that it's his wishes as to who he wishes to share the product with if at all? , I do have his permission , to tell you the truth he's half way across the world now in London, as he recently only just visited me here in Australia , are you trying to tell me that you've never been given something that someone has paid for but has then given it to you Pete? The majority of the world now copies CD's & DVD's , Music shops are losing out on sales because of downloading on the internet ,that unfortunately is the world today , do I agree with it "NO" , and I'm not just saying that to be pollitcaly correct ,each year people get greedier & greedier which is why half the world is know in recession. I differ because I didn't just go on Download a pirate copy of FSUIPC , I was "GIVEN" it with permission , I really don't see why that's an issue though from your point of view from someone who has developed the product obviously I can see where your coming from. Pete , look I only asked a very simple question which was : "can I still just set my weather manually like I used to before I set the FSUIPC settings ,example I want 5 miles visability , 4000 ft to 8000 ft stratus ,then 8000 ft to 16000 ft columus ,with light rain as perticipation , and FSUIPC will still have control over the weather & cloud layers so I don't get stutters?" In this instance I have understood your point of view Pete , truly I do , I know you don't know me from Adam , but I'm not one of these people who is out for themselves & rips people off like the new age 2009 , I truly am an honest person who does "ABIDE" by the laws if you will , everything in my FS is "PAID" for legally , without me going on and on , I ask you person to person here that if you can just let this instance go & answer my question if you know the answer obviously , it'll be much appreciated , because theres not enough decency in the world these days. Pete , thanks for your time , and I hope we really don't get off on the wrong foot.
Pete Dowson
Pete , I truly wasn't aware that this is "Stealing" , If I knew this was the case I would'nt have posted it , It just shows my honesty Okay, but now you know. It's just as much stealing as those who take copies of friends CDs and DVDs, denying the makers/artistes their income. I thought since the user "My Friend" legally purchased his , that it's his wishes as to who he wishes to share the product with if at all? Sharing a copyright product is a violation of that copyright. I do have his permission , to tell you the truth he's half way across the world now in London, as he recently only just visited me here in Australia , are you trying to tell me that you've never been given something that someone has paid for but has then given it to you Pete? Yes, when they have given me the original, leaving them without. That isn't possible with software, which is why it is either licensed to the individual (as with my stuff), or to the one specific PC (as with Microsoft Windows and most other licensed software). I tend to think the latter is too restrictive, but perhaps I should consider going that way. :-( The majority of the world now copies CD's & DVD's , Music shops are losing out on sales because of downloading on the internet ,that unfortunately is the world today , do I agree with it "NO" , and I'm not just saying that to be pollitcaly correct ,each year people get greedier & greedier which is why half the world is know in recession. This is exactly the same. I differ because I didn't just go on Download a pirate copy of FSUIPC , I was "GIVEN" it with permission , I really don't see why that's an issue What is the difference between your friend making you a copy (which is actually how most CD and DVD sales are lost) and you downloading it from the internet? In fact, it isn't the copy of the software which is illegal, it is the Key to allow you to use it. You cannot get that from the Internet without purchasing. Any downloadable keys you may find are either pirated and fall foul of traps set into the software, or are revoked as and when discovered, as, indeed, your friend's should be if you will reveal it in your honesty. Please go and buy your own Key, and update your version of FSUIPC -- or simply delete the FSUIPC.KEY file from the FS modules folder so making your copy unregistered, as it would be if you had downloaded it. And then thank your friend but warn him not to do such things again. Regards Pete
