Mikeallenbrown Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 I'm at my wits end! .... I have followed the simconnect directions for connecting SB4 to FSX perfectly, multiple timesand I still can not get SB4 to run from my laptop while FSX is running on my desktop ...I've opened ports, disabled firewalls, tried new installations, tried different versions of simconnect, the sharing of folders is all setup too, butall have failed. :( I have bought FSUIPC and WideFS. I currently run WidFS on my laptop and can run DVA's ACARS (http://www.deltava.org/) program through it fineso I know my WideFS is set up and running correctly. Here is my question .... can I run SB4 on my laptop, through WideFS, and forget about the entire simconnect thing? ...if so, how to I go about doing it? Much thanks in advance! Mike

I'm not sure this is the best place. I have bought FSUIPC and WideFS. I currently run WidFS on my laptop and can run DVA's ACARS (http://www.deltava.org/) program through it fineso I know my WideFS is set up and running correctly. Right, but SB4 doesn't use FSUIPC or WideFS. Here is my question .... can I run SB4 on my laptop, through WideFS, and forget about the entire simconnect thing? ...if so, how to I go about doing it? No you cannot, I'm afraid. SB4 is purely a SimConnect client program, there is no FSUIPC interface in it at all. I expect it is a problem with installing SimConnect on your client. You have done this, haven't you? You do need the Deluxe edition of FSX for this, as you don't get remote SimConnect facilities with the basic version. Once you've done that it is a matter of getting your SimConnect.CFG file, installed in the Client, matching the SimConnect.xml file on the Server. I'm sure there must be some documentation for all this with SB4? Regards Pete
danieljrm23 Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Hi, As much as I love SB, I regret to say, that the Documentation is rather poor, it doesn't help at all when using two computers, It just says "refer to the WideFS manual" even if your using FSX.
