trent900 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Pete, Can you assist me please, I have recently purchased some hardware that requires the use of your lateset FSUIPC4.5 unregisterd version. The issue I am having is, although I have recently re installed Windows XP 32 home edition and FSX on to a clean Hard drive everytime I run FSX with Fsuipc4 it will hang I start FSX off in full screen and then if I go to WindoW mode to launch any other programme or just click on the screen anywhere outside FSX and the try and go back to full screen mode I get a full hang. The only way to get out of this is to use Task Manager to re start. If I remove FSUIPC4 the problem does not happen at all I have tried this with fsx fsx sp1 fsxsp2 same result. What on earth have i done wrong, any help would be welcome. Thanks Mark

The only way to get out of this is to use Task Manager to re start. This is almost always a video driver problem. There are some hints which may help that I've seen recently, especially if you are using Vista: set your desktop Icon for FSX to "Disable desktop composition" and "Disable visual themes." If I remove FSUIPC4 the problem does not happen at all I have tried this with fsx fsx sp1 fsxsp2 same result. That must surely be a timing or memory arrangement coincidence, because FSUIPC is doing nothing at all in regards to the actions you mention. in fact, unless it is being actively used by an add-on application, it really is dormant in any case, simply receiving stuff sent to it by SimConnect, none of which relate to switching between screen modes are changing focus. Possibly it is more to do with whatever is using FSUIPC? After all, its main function is a "window" into FS for other programs. What else is running? What is this hardware which actually requires FSUIPC? Perhaps you can carry out some process of elimination to see what is actually the cause? Regards Pete
