Pete Dowson Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I am using WINDOWS7 Home Premium together with a Matrox TripleHEad2Go (resolution 3840x1024 pix) and have the following problem now:... Is there a workaround existing? It results from a mismatch between a video driver's COMCTL32.DLL and the Windows graphics settings. If trying a later or older video driver doesn't help, then the answer is to select a different windows font size. Right click on the desktop, select Personalise, then Display. Try "smaller (100%)". That works for me in all circumstances. Pete
billiani Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 Thank's Pete for your immediate response! I have already font size 100% in use. Seems to me, I have to live with that and change some settings via the FSUIPC.ini file :(
Hipp0 Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I think I had the same issue as you. This fixed it for me, you might want to give it a try - add (or possibly edit) the following entries in the registry: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes] "MS Sans Serif"="Segoe UI" "MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24"="Segoe UI" *EDIT* You will need to log out (of Windows) and back in for it to take effect.

Seems to me, I have to live with that and change some settings via the FSUIPC.ini file :( I'm very interested in getting you to run some tests for me so I can dig into the problem and see if I can find a proper solution. The same sort of problem occurs regularly -- infrequently, thank goodness -- but on WinXP, Vista, as well as Win7. In fact I know it goes at least back to Win98 and WinMe. But I've never been able to reproduce it. If i can work out a way of detecting when it happens, automatically, and reconfiguring something internally to circumvent it, I'd like to. Write to me at petedowson@btconnect.com if you are interested in pursuing a solution. Thanks, Pete
gak1707 Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 I have allso the same problem. I am using WINDOWS7 ULTIMATE 64 bit and Matrox TripleHead2Go (resolution 5040 x 1050) on 3 widescreens, and an old monitor on second screen output from my grafics card. I have tryed to run only on my second display only, but it din't solve the problem. So I mean, that it has nothing with Matrox to do. I read the answer from you Pete, but I was allso running on the smallest display (100%), so I tryed the opposite, running a bigger text size (125%), and that solved the problem for my. So try that.

So try that. You must be running an old unsupported version of FSUIPC because since the last message in this thread (November 2009) the problem has been fixed. The oldest supported versions of FSUIPC are 3.98 (for FS9 and before) and 4.60 (for FSX and ESP). There are also updates to these in the Updates Announcement above. Please update. Regards Pete
