sonicdestroyer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 This software, recommended in the WideFS Manual, is able to cause major troubles with your Computer by removing access to the WLAN connection services Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (wzcsvc). The result is that you're unable to connect to any WLAN network, because your computer won't scan for any. The culprit of the latest version of this application 1.23 is that it's unable to rollback the changes it made to the Windows system, so once you hit "Disable Windows Wireless Configuration (recommenced)" [sic!] and want to revert to the original "Enable Windows Wireless Configuration" setting it is possible, although the software tells you to make the changes with the next reboot that wzcsvc will not load, which effects in you being unable to connect to any wireless lan whatsoever. After some research I was able to find the solution to get my laptop connecting with the Internet again: Use regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WZCSVC, add a DWORD entry named "Start" and value it "2" ("2" is automatic.) This can easy save you one hour or two of finding the error.

However, I'll add a note to the WideFS documentation. Note that a much easier way to enable or disable Services, and set their loading modes, is to use the Services section of your computer’s "Manage” facility—right click on “My Computer” and select “Manage”.
