seandsmith78 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I have just finished setting up WideFS and can run ActiveSky and Squawbox in FS2004 fine on my client machine. The problem I have is when trying to configure a PTT button. The first part of it is where I fall down. I go into the FSUIPC within FS and go to the Buttons & Switches tab. I press the button on the joystick and nothing, its the same in the axis. It just doesnt seem to know my joystick is there. I have read around and its not GoFlight stuff so thats not it, and I have plugged my joystick in before I run FS and the joystick does work in FS. In the joystick calibration tab in FSUIPC it recognises the axis, just not in the parts I need it to (Buttons & Switches / Axis). I am hoping its something really obvious. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on FS Machine and Windows XP Pro on Client PC. Any help would be appreciated.

It may be that you are using FSUIPC 3.96 or 4.57 and the joystick performance is just a little slower than I allowed for in the safety timeout I incorporated then. Please download a replacement DLL from the Updates and Other Goodies Announcement near the top of this forum. FSUIPC4 uses direct input for the Axes which isn't subject to the same rigorous timing checks as I incorporated for the buttons which used the older joystick interface, as in FSUIPC3. It is always worth checking the Announcements to see if a fix for a problem is already available. I think you'll find this sort of problem described in the list of fixes incorporated, in that Updates announcement. Regards Pete
seandsmith78 Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 Thanks for your swift reply! It was the timing regarding the joystick. I just downloaded the new .dll file as you suggested and everything is now fine. Much appreciated, PTT is working like a dream now. Kind Regards Sean
