robscho Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Finally took the plunge and bought FSUIPC 4 registered version for FSX having used it in fs9 and prior for many years. Finally worked out how to get the vis options to appear in the FSUIPC menu in FSX by changing the relevant setting in the .ini file. However, the vsibility settings have no effect on FSX weather with ASE running or even without it (tried the vis graduation and the max surface layer vis settings and neither work). Am i missing something on getting FSUIPC, FSX and Simconnect to talk together? Are there any problems with UAC/running priority of the various applications? (i run FSX without administrator rights in vista 32 home and assume FSX will load FSUIPC with the same rights as itself?) Have made sure I hvae checked the boxes in FSUIPC to allow it to "change FS own weather" Any ideas Pete? Rob Schofield

Pete Dowson Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 Finally worked out how to get the vis options to appear in the FSUIPC menu in FSX by changing the relevant setting in the .ini file. The reason it isn't obvious is because it really doesn't work well -- the facilities it needs simply aren't there in FSX. I simply didn't rip the code out as folks might like to experiment, and, in any case, they do work okay if your weather is supplied via an external program using FSUIPC to set the weather. That would be unusual, though. However, the vsibility settings have no effect on FSX weather with ASE running or even without it (tried the vis graduation and the max surface layer vis settings and neither work). Correct. ASE uses SimConnect direct. You need to use the ASE options to do those things. Regards Pete
