Denholm Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Hello everyone, Before I begin, let me reassure everyone that I've searched for an answer to this question in this and other forums. So far, I haven't found any concrete information pertaining to my question. Recently I became intrigued with the idea of building a multi-monitor cockpit. I'm aware FSUIPC makes such a setup possible, however, I want to know if it can use utilities such as Active Camera (or an FSX equivalent) to save specific camera views and display them on separate monitors? Let me elaborate on this... What I want to do is use a utility similar to Active Camera (or and FSX equivalent) to project a different view on each monitor. I'm interested in using utilities such as Active Camera because they can "un-dock" the standard FS camera and move it into another position. Therefore these utilities are useful when attempting to project a more realistic view onto separate monitors, such as the overhead panel, first-officer's panel, throttle quadrant, etc. If I were to use the standard FS camera, these views would be angular (from the captain's perspective) which I wish to avoid. Alright, now for my question... Does FSUIPC support - or have the capacity - to use third-party utilities such as Active Camera to project different views within FS onto different monitors? In addition, can FSUIPC save these views so upon restarting the simulator I don't have to readjust the camera for every single monitor? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Pete Dowson Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Recently I became intrigued with the idea of building a multi-monitor cockpit. I'm aware FSUIPC makes such a setup possible ... Not really. Together with WideFS it enables programs such as Project Magenta, Sim-Avionics and Flight Deck Software to provide instrumentation which can operate on a Network of PCs. My own system uses 5 PCs for instance. But multi-monitor cockpits on one PC are enabled by multiple video connections or hardware such as the Matrox TripleHead2Go. Multiple monitors on multiple PCs for scenery views can be set up using WidevieW, which is a package by Luciano Napolitano, not me. ... however, I want to know if it can use utilities such as Active Camera (or an FSX equivalent) to save specific camera views and display them on separate monitors? Undocked views, camera angles, etc, are all part of an interesting subject, but not one I know much about and certainly with no relation to any software of mine. I think the type of software you are after is exemplified by EZDOCK: http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=ezdockcam Alright, now for my question... Take a look at EZDOCK. Regards Pete
Denholm Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 Thank you for the quick response. For some reason I gained the impression FSUIPC made multi-monitor setups possible. Thank you for clearing up my confusion and referring me to software which makes this set-up possible.
