Newboy Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 Hello Pete, I recently installed Radar Contact 4 on my FSX. At the end of the installation it came up with a message saying that the FSUIPC (that comes with RC4) is old and not compatible with my FSX SP2. It said that I need to get the latest version from Microsoft. When I started to google FSUIPC, I came to your website. On your website, I see that you can either download the FSX version 4.60 or ‘buy’ it from Simmarket. That is where I am getting confused. Is there a difference? Which one am I to get? I don’t know what WideFS is? Is that part of FSX? Do I need WideFS first to run FSUIPC? Regards Dev
Pete Dowson Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 When I started to google FSUIPC, I came to your website. I don't actually have a website at all -- but probably you mean the page Enrico Schiratti created to put all my modules in one place -- both freeware and payware. On your website, I see that you can either download the FSX version 4.60 or ‘buy’ it from Simmarket. That is where I am getting confused. Is there a difference? Which one am I to get? There's only one. You don't get the program from SimMarket, only the Key to unlock the additional user facilities. You don't need those just for Radar Contact. After you've installed FSUIPC you can read the supplied documentation and decide then whether you want to buy a key to unlock the extra features or not. I don’t know what WideFS is? Is that part of FSX? Do I need WideFS first to run FSUIPC? No, WideFs is a facility to allow you to network FS applications on two or more computers, linking to FS on a Server PC. If you want to run Radar Contact on the same PC as FS you don't need WideFS. I expect there are a lot more programs listed on that page which you don't know about. Just get what you need according to whatever instructions you got with your add-on. Pete
