theedge123 Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Hi pete. I need your help. Ive networked my to pc's as i tried to explain the other day. Im still very much in the dark with this though. Let me explain what im trying to do. Ive installed active sky evo and from what ive read it need WIDEFS to network. Ive installed this on my number 2 pc that does not have FSX installed but number 1 pc does. Does WIDEFS have to be installed on both pc's Can u tell me exactly what i need in respect of WIDEFS and where i can download. I dont want to sound stupid but i have seen it on your site but i got confused with the other programs with it and around it so can u send me a link just to the install i need. Hope that you can answer my questions mate and help me Many thanks Dave
Pete Dowson Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Ive networked my to pc's as i tried to explain the other day. Did you explain here, in this Forum? If so you should maintain continuity by adding to your original thread rather than starting a new one. Let me explain what im trying to do. I don't think you are reading the correct part of their documentation. ASE only uses FSUIPC and WideFS for FS9. Does WIDEFS have to be installed on both pc's There's no "WideFS" to install, as such. You Register it when installing FSUIPC4 on the FSX PC. On the Client PCs you merely run WideClient. Regards Pete

I thought i read that ASE needs Widefs. never mind. So please what your saying is that i dont need to install nothing else then other than just shareing fsx files on pc 1 or do i have to install this wideclient on pc 2 (non fsx pc) Kind regards Dave
Pete Dowson Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 so please for give me for all the questions but i just cant get my head around this. Have you tried reading the relevant parts of the ASE documentation. I'm sure they tell you how to set it up for networks. I thought i read that ASE needs Widefs. never mind. It only uses FSUIPC (and therefore WideFS) for use with FS9, not FSX. So please what your saying is that i dont need to install nothing else then other than just shareing fsx files on pc No, you will have to set up SimConnect for Network use. You'll need to refer to ASE documentation. I don't know if it needs any fsx files sharing, I wouldn't have thought so. I'm sorry, but I cannot support other folks products as well as my own. They keep me busy enough! Regards Pete
theedge123 Posted February 28, 2011 Author Report Posted February 28, 2011 THanks pete you have been a great help. Just 1 last question please. Simconnect. does simconect come with fsx or do i have to download it. I can see simconnect in the fsx files but cant work out how to get it to my other pc. See ive looked on ASE and realy mate it does not come across very clear in that department. but as i say does it come with fsx or do i have to download. Sorry to bother you pete Kind regards Dave
Pete Dowson Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 does simconect come with fsx or do i have to download it. On the FSX PC it is installed when you install FSX. You weill have to create a SimConnect.xml file -- there should be one shown in the ASE manual or possibly supplied in one of the ASE folders. For the client you have to have the Deluxe or Gold edition of FSX, and the SimConnect.msi file for installing it is available on the DVD. Then you have to create a SimConnect.cfg file for that end. All this should be explained in the ASE manual. I shouldn't really be supporting SimConnect as in effect it is actually a "competitor" to FSUIPC! I'm sure you can ask questions about all this over in the Active Sky support forum. Regards Pete
