Hi all,

I keep getting this error when starting FSX, not every time but probably 3 out of 5 starts. It was doing it before the FSUIPC update and was hoping the update would change it. But still seeing it. I'm running Win Vista 32. Just curious if any one has had this prob before?

Thanx

Error

Flight Simulator has detected a problem with a third-party software program (add-on):

Name: FSUIPC4 DLL: FS new universal IPC interface

Version: 4.703

Company: Peter L. Dowson

File: Modules\FSUIPC4.dll

Do you want to run this software (not recommended)?

To avoid seeing this message in the future, uninstall this program or disable its ability to start when running Flight Simulator. For more information about third-party programs, contact the publisher or see http:\www.fsinsider.com.

Hello,

Yes, you'll find that one mentioned quite a lot around here. It's a problem with the way the security works and should (although it clearly isn;t in your case) go away after you have accepted the message. I get it occasionally - such as yesterday after another add-on crashed the sim - with both FSUIPC and the LDS B767 modules. It's a false report, not actually an error.

Thanks Ian,

It does continue running FSX after I hit "Yes" so it doesn't seem to cause a problem. Sometimes when FSX is taking a long time to load the error window doesn't show up, but I assume that's still the issue. So I'll close out FSX in task manager and reload FSX. Then sure enough the error pops up again.

I know this is a security feature and you have to go through the series of windows popping up when you first install a third party app. But why does FSUIPC always seem to be the one that has not been accepted? Or as you say a false error. I have several third party apps and have never seen this with any of those.

Anyway Ian thanks for your answer. I did a forum search for "error" before I posted this question and didn't have any hits. So guess I'll try another keyword search and try to read more about this issue.

Cheers

I know that every time I get it, the message appears after FSX has crashed or I have failed to shut it down correctly (such as by killing the process, as you say).

I don't know why FSUIPC reports it specifically, Pete might be able to help with that one, but I've also seen it very regularly with the LDS767 as I said above and also with a couple of other modules.

Pete actually gives better answers than I ever could in a couple of other threads on the subject: If you go to the root of Pete's forum (http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/) and check that the search box is set to say "This forum", then search for "flight simulator has detected problem with third-party software program" (basically, take out the "the" and the "a" from the error report, or the search code throws a wobbly), I came back with nine threads on the subject.

Cheers,

Thanks again Ian,

I did find some more info after my last post, just refined my search. You mentioned if appears after a incorrect shut down, which I would understand, but it also does it after a normal shutdown, or the first boot of the day. But anyway it's not a big issue, I was just curious about the logistics on why it was happening.

Cheers,

Rand
