Flyinhi Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Pete, We upgraded to SP2 and no longer have a software connection between the PF Cirrus II and the FSX software. The com ports that connect are no longer connected. How do I fix this. It is an older Cirrus II. We do not have a manual for the Cirrus II as well. Any guidance would be appreciated Thanks RT
Pete Dowson Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Pete, We upgraded to SP2 and no longer have a software connection between the PF Cirrus II and the FSX software. SP2 of what? FSX? There's absolutely no difference in my PFC drivers for any version of FSX. The version of FSX makes no difference at all. The com ports that connect are no longer connected. How do I fix this. It is an older Cirrus II. We do not have a manual for the Cirrus II as well. Any guidance would be appreciated I assume that somehow your COM port number has changed. Maybe you reconnected it or upgraded Windows? I can't help you with that. How did you determine the original COM port to use? Just find the right port and tell the driver. BTW, PFC do have their own support you know! I can't really support hardware at all. Regards Pete
Flyinhi Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 What occured is the following in sequence. 1st a windows update not upgrade. 2nd was a FSX to SP2. At this point I ran FSX and the port check failed. No prot was active or identified. I don't seem to be able to find or reassign the port assignments. It looks as if the drivers are now missing. These updates were automatic and the windows was the standard update that it does periodically. The reason for the FSX update to SP2 was that we were having some problems with the rudder assembly. From time to time we would get left rudder only and not left and right. Next time we ran it it was fine. Thanks for your help RT SP2 of what? FSX? It won't be anything to do with the SP2 update to FSX. Maybe the Windows update? Is your Cirrus connected via a USB serial port adapter? Do you mean the driver to see the COM port connection on USB? You'll probably need to get a compatible driver from the Internet. Most USB seria ladapters use the FTDI chip, so you could try their website. Otherwise, sorry, I've no idea. I use genuine serial ports provided by Brainboxes PCI or PCI-E cards. I find them more reliable, and they have drivers for 64-bit Win7 which are otherwise less easy to find. Regards Pete
