funkybass101 Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 Hello! Just purchased the new Saitek trim Wheel. I tried to use it with FSUIPC function "axis assignment", but the movements are to big and not well calibrated. How can i program it via FSUIPC so the movements are small, like the "mouse wheel as trim" function? Via Offsets? But which values do i have to chose/enter? Thank you very much for your help :)
Pete Dowson Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 I tried to use it with FSUIPC function "axis assignment", but the movements are to big and not well calibrated. Did you not calibrate the axis afterwards? The values from a trim axis should be sufficiently fine, or it's a pretty bad device. As far as I know most Saitek axis devices have a resolution of about 1024 positions, which is a lot more than the 128 on my expensive PFC device and the latter is still pretty good at getting the trim just right. did you first try assigning in FS itself? Doesn't Saitek provide any calibration suitable? How can i program it via FSUIPC so the movements are small, like the "mouse wheel as trim" function?Via Offsets? But which values do i have to chose/enter? Not a good idea to try to write directly to offsets from an axis. You could try writing a Lua plug-in to compute a desirable trim value from the axis input, but it really shouldn't be needed. If Saitek has produced a trim wheel which isn't suitable for use as a trim wheel with FS I'd return it for a refund. Regards Pete
funkybass101 Posted August 28, 2011 Author Report Posted August 28, 2011 Hi Pete, thank you very much. My problem is solved by unchecking "use mouse wheel for trim" and "fix control acceleration" in the FSUIPC menu.
