dhs Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Mr. Dowson, I just installed FSX Gold with Acceleration and added FSUIPC4 as well as Abacus Flight Deck 6. Unbeknownst to me, there was an error in the FSUIPC install. It's OK I corrected it. However, in the meantime, I added the Abacus S-3B Viking's aircraft (I used to fly it and the P-3C Orion in the Navy). I could not get it registered as the Add-on entry on the Menu Bar did not display. Tried many options changing dll.xml to get it working to no avail. Reviewed your documentation and discovered the install error (didn't quite register correctly). I uninstalled FSUIPC and reinstalled it correctly with registration. The Add-on menu bar entry displayed at this point and I was able register the Abacus products. Is this a deliberate action to not display the Add-on Menu Bar option? If so, may I disagree that there are other add-ons for Fsx that one cannot get to. Regards, Dave Simmons Sugar Land, Texas USA

However, in the meantime, I added the Abacus S-3B Viking's aircraft (I used to fly it and the P-3C Orion in the Navy). Reviewed your documentation and discovered the install error (didn't quite register correctly). I uninstalled FSUIPC and reinstalled it correctly with registration. Sounds like the DLL.XML file was corrupted by the Abacus installer, and re-running the FSUIPC installer fixed it for you. From what you say there was no installer error at all. Is this a deliberate action to not display the Add-on Menu Bar option? If so, may I disagree that there are other add-ons for Fsx that one cannot get to. The Add-On menu entry is created by SimConnect on the request of programs interfacing to SimConnect, such as FSUIPC. If the Add Ons entry does not appear it generally means that no programs which use that menu have been loaded. This would certainly occur if the DLL.XML file was corrupted. You seem to write as if you believe the Add-Ons menu is some creation of FSUIPC, which it most certainly is not!!. If I had been able to I would have created a Modules entry instead, for compatibility with FS9 back to FS98! Pete
