Iain Williams Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 Hello; I have flight deck in the making and am using the latest registered version of FSUPIC and WideFS with FSX on a networked system (2 computers running WIN 7) I've been having issues with SimConnect - only after I installed the SDK SP2 - which brings me to this question. Can SimConnect, FSUPIC and WideFS live and operate harmoniously together? Without going into great detail, what is the difference between them. Will my system be more user friendly and stable using FSUPIC only? I apologise for the simplicity of my questions. SimConnect is a new animal for me. Thank you, Iain
Pete Dowson Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Can SimConnect, FSUPIC and WideFS live and operate harmoniously together? Yes, of course. In fact FSUIPC4 uses SimConnect, and WideFS extends the FSUIPC interface across a network using separate network ports from SimConnect, and neither interferes with the other. Without going into great detail, what is the difference between them. WideFS and FSUIPC are used by programs written to use the FSUIPC interface, the one which has been maintained across all versions of FS since FS98 (as well as two versions of CFS), whilst SimConnect is used by programs written to use SimConnect, which applies only to FSX, ESP and Prepar3D. Will my system be more user friendly and stable using FSUPIC only? It's not relevant to user friendliness and stability, only on what add-ons you want to use. Regards Pete
Iain Williams Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 Thank you Peter for the very prompt reply. What you have said makes complete sense. Personally, I prefer your interfaces as they rarely corrupt. SimConnect seems to be a nest of problems that are quite difficult to resolve. But, this discussion is another subject all together. Warmest Regards, Iain
