Hi,

yesterday I installed FSUIPC4 and since then I am getting error messages in the event viewer being generated 1 per second. They only appear when FSX is running and a flight is started and they stop once FSX shuts down. When I take out FSUIPC from the modules folder and remove the entries from both dll.xml and the trusted list in the fsx.cfg and start FSX no errors are generated. I have tested with either version 4.751a and 4.754. I can't attach a screenshot since the file size appears to be to large.

The error event ID is 8016 and the error message is as follows:

"The browser driver has received too many illegal datagrams from the remote computer SPEEDPORT.IP to name "..." (My Computer Name) on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{65420A70-B00E-4AD3-945D-CEE0D0C245C6}. The data is the datagram. No more events will be generated until the reset frequency has expired."

Thanks

What event viewer? Are you running some event viewer at the same time as FS?

Why do all that? FSUIPC won't run if it isn't in the Modules folder. you don't need to do anything else!

I can't attach a screenshot since the file size appears to be to large.

Why would I want a screenshot? Surely grabbing the text for one of the entries and pasting it here would do?

What's that "browser driver? What is your remote PC "SPEEDPORT.IP" doing? Does it actually say "..." (My computer name) or have you edited that part -- if so, why? Can you possibly describe what it is you are doing, what sort of multi-computer setup you are using? Doesn't this event viewer you are using identify the program or module at all?

FSUIPC doesn't use any Network facilities whatsoever unless you enable WideServer. Are you doing that?

Hi again,

I'm talking about the windows event viewer eventvwr.exe. The text of the error messages is always as the quoted one. I have no idea what "browser driver" is or means. Speedport is the name of my router and I edited the part where it gives my computers name. I run a two computer setup and have WideServer enabled. But the error is also there when the second computer is not even turned on.

Thanks

Which section of the Event viewer is this error placed in? All the ones I ever look at always identify the program and often the module concerned. Surely there's a program identified there, somewhere?

Why edit the computer name out? It's not a usable thing outside your network.

I run a two computer setup and have WideServer enabled. But the error is also there when the second computer is not even turned on.

Nevertheless, WideServer is still broadcasting an "I am here" message once a second, by default so that Clients can automatically know where the Server is and which Protocol to use, and so connect. You can turn that off if you wish (see the WideFS dox), but it should never give any errors. Something is wrong with your system, but I've no idea what it is with that weird message. What operating system are you using on the Server? Have you disabled any of the default Windows services? Maybe one which is needed for broadcasting support is disabled?

Hi Pete,

it is placed in the section Windows Logs / System. I gave you the text that is placed under general. Under details it lists one more thing: Event Data: \Device\LanmanDatagramReceiver.

I have not turned off any windows services and I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate. If you give me your email-adress I could send you a screenshot of the error message, maybe I am missing something there.

Anyways, thanks so far, just thought you might have come across that error.

So it is the LanMan part of Windows which is in error.

I have not turned off any windows services and I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate.

So am I, on three separate systems, one of which has 8 Client PCs. None of them have ever shown this error. I'm afraid I've no idea what it means, but it will be some setting somewhere in the system, or possibly on your router. I suggest you Google it and see if there's any help that way. Or simply avoid the problem by turning off broadcasting as I suggested. You will need to put the ServerName and Protocol parameters into the WideClient.INI if you do this, but otherwise it has no adverse affect.

If you give me your email-adress I could send you a screenshot of the error message, maybe I am missing something there.

No, I already have enough to know I have no idea what it means. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

Google didn't bring me any solutions yet. I'll try turning off broadcasting then. Thank you very much for your help.
