Pete Dowson Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 I did a quick test by assigning the two throttle levers as 'axis throttle 1 set' and 'axis throttle 2 set'. I had previously set them as 'throttle 1' and 'throttle 2' as this is the only references I recall to individual throttles when using the direct option (which I thought was the better one), The "direct to calibration" is 'better' in terms of being more efficient, but being direct it does bypass a lot of add-on aircraft code which, in the case of the PMDG implementations, evidently matters. I went to the calibration page and calibrated both, setting the max and min values. Tested the NGX and the throttles worked as they should with the auto throttle switched on (i.e. they didnt change when I moved the Saitek levers). The no reverse option is ticked and confirmed as Yes in ini file. The In / Out values range from -16384 to +16384. Okay, all as it should be, though if you aren't calibrating idle and full thrust dead zones, and the inputs are so perfect at -16k to +16k, then such calibration isn't doing anything for you, of course. I then tried the sync option, I moved both levers to idle and pressed the sync position button then moved both levers simultaneously about 1cm and pressed sync again...as soon as I did this throttle 2's Out value on left hand side of display changed from -16384 to -4096 (and wont go below this value) and wouldn't increase until the lever approached the 50% range of its physical movement where it starts increasing to +16384. If it is doing that it is most definitely a bug, but as I said earlier i can't reproduce it here, so I'm a bit at a loss at present. I could do with that logging i mentioned. Really there's no point in sending just the INI, best wait till you've had time to do the logging too. do you think I should delete all its axis assignments as well as disabling them? No. FSX will ignore them if controllers are disabled, but watch out for FSX automatically re-enabling if it thinks the controllers are new, e.g. plugged in a dfferent USB. I can live without the sync option if we can't get to the bottom of it. I'd like to fix it though, so thanks for continuing to help. Once I can reproduce it here I can fix it. Hope you have a good weekend Thanks, you too! Pete
cjibbotson Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Pete thanks for the updates and sorry for it bambozzling you, its certainly done it to me as Ive followed your advice. I'll look at logs at the beginning of the week but in the interim here's the ini I meant to send earlier with the throttles correctly assigned as the correct axis set and sync'd, which creates the -4096 issue. I very quickly reassigned the lever assignments tonight and got the tiller steering to work correctly. Pete Dowson Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 I'll look at logs at the beginning of the week but in the interim here's the ini I meant to send earlier with the throttles correctly assigned as the correct axis set and sync'd, which creates the -4096 issue. Found it! It was a really difficult one, spent most of the weekend on it. But it also showed up some errors in the "sync Pos" facility which might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Sorry it has taken so long. Try version 4.805 (or 3.999f for FS9), which appears to work okay here, now. Regards Pete
cjibbotson Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Hi Pete, apologies for not getting back sooner, I wasn't back home until Monday evening so couldn't do any logging. As I still had issues with the Steering Tiller on one of my axis levers I decided to delete the ini file and start afresh. First thing I noticed was the 2 throttles calibrated properly. You previously mentioned that if NRZ was ticked then it was impossible for the 'Out' section to go below zero. In the past it was going to -16300 approx and when clicking the sync button throttle 2 would limit itself to -4096, this all seems correct now  . I'll update this evening but thank you so much for all your hard work, you are certainly a credit to the flight sim community and we all appreciate it Regards Chris Ibbotson
Pete Dowson Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 You previously mentioned that if NRZ was ticked then it was impossible for the 'Out' section to go below zero. Yes, but I reckoned without the "UseAxisControlsForNRZ=Yes" setting, which changed that. And in fact it was stupidly forgetting that important fact which led to my programming bug with the "Sync Pos" facility (which is now fixed). Regards Pete
