Homecockpit Maximum displays in FSX / Fsuipc ???

Hi everybody,

this one is for the hardcore FS2004/FSX wizzkids...

I have build a home cockpit with one computer using 3 (dualhead) video cards. I use WinXP 64bit. i have extended desktops on all three videocards.

With FS2004 all works perfect. I just " undock" the panels (overhead, pedestal, engines/eicas, and PFD/ND to the right monitors and i have a perfect working (cheap) cockpit.

BUT!

With FSX it doesnt work. Ik can use up to desktops with FSX. When i extend the sixth desktop en drag a " undocked' window to that desktop FSX " hangs". (i tried al combinations of monitors en videocard slots etc...)

My question: is it true that FSX can only use up to five desktops (where fs2004 can go up to at least 6 desktops)???

I hope somebody knows the anwser!

I'm afraid I don't know the answer. But you must surely have a super computer running at 10's of GHz, because each time I undock a window the frame rate almost halves!

first my appologies for the three topics. (i posted three times because i didnt see my topic... now i know why it didnt show right away). Thank's for cleaning it up for me.

My computer isnt really that powerfull. Its a Intel i7 980 series at stock 3.05Ghz. When i undock a panel (e.g. the overhead panel) end drag it to my "overhead monitor" it doesnt realy affect my frame rate at all....

I searched all over the internet but i cant find a lot of information regarding FSX and extended desktops or multiple monitors. Maybe its just a simple "bug" in combination with the Gforce8400se card. I will have to seach further.

It's the approval system here. A post from someone new has to be approved before it is visible. This normally happens quite quickly, but not as quick as the minutes you left between postings!.

Hmm. how strange. Here one such undocking has quite a serious affect -- and on a 4.8GHz overclocked i5-2500K. Maybe you have most settings down low?

It may be related to Geforce drivers. They are updated freqiently - up to 306.xx now I see, My card is a GTX 580. The 8xxx series is pretty old now, isn't it?

Hi Pete,

you are wright, i dont have all settings to max. But i dont use the 3d cockpit. The 2d panels and just the forward view isnt realy that tough on the frame rates. (at least that is what i experiance).

About the 8xxx series: Yes they are pretty old. But i got them for free. :mrgreen: . I am now trying to get hold of two Ati (or are they now known as AMD?) cards. Trying to find out if its the drivers.... :???:
