Dear Pete,

After severals days and nights ... I cannot connect WideFS with FSUIPC and I did found solution to my problem... Sorry to distrub you with this problem which is certainly simple for you!!

May I ask you to help me to find where is the problem and how I can solve it... I want to connect FSX with FlightSim commander 9.2 which are on separate computer.

I have 2 computers connected on home LAN netowrk on the same Worksgroup called "HOUFIL", Windows 7 Familly version are installed on both, Firewall and antivirus are stopped, HD are shared with all rights. FSUIPC 1 WIDEFS used are lastest version and registred.

I have any problems to use files and printer shared... my local network seems ok!!

On the computer called "PilotOlivier", I have FSX and FSUIPC 4 installed.

On the computer called "ControlOlivier", I have FlightSim commander and WideFS. FlightSim commander has access to the database from FSX without problem.

When I launch FSX... the software is seraching without success WideFS... On the other computer WideFS doest the same.

Please find hereafter the screencopies of LOG and INI files and could you give me ... the procedure to solve this problems?

I only need to see the WideServer and WideClient log files. You've shown me the WideServer log, which shows it is working fine, but not the WideClient log, which is undoubtedly where the information needed lies.

Did you try putting in the client ServerIPAddr and Protocol parameters, as suggested in the little "must read" part of the User Guide?

That shows that the Client simply doesn't know where ther server is. It is not receiving the Broadcasts, so either the two PCs are on in the same WorkGroup, or there is a block. If you would please try to do as suggested, telling the client the server address and protocol to use, then we will know.

dear Pete

Thank you for your quick answer and sorry my previous answer was not enough clear... English is not my mother language.

I was continued investigation to fix the problem.. and I discovered that WideClient calls router which bocked port 8002. I have solved the problem by opening this port in the router.

May I suggest something about userguide... it will better to provide some explanations with explications in order to permitting to non IT person to answer how the soft works.

But again... thank you for your huge support and your software.

Cheers

Sorry, what sort of explanation? I don't see what I could say which would help in any way. What would you like it to say?

You said in your original posting:

Firewall and antivirus are stopped,

But this was not the case it seemed. You had a LAN firewall set up in your Router!? I've not heard of such before -- normally the router firewall facilities are designed to control traffic from the WAN, the Ethernet, not within your own local Network.

Additionally, the symptoms shown in the Logs you supplied indicated that Server Broadcasts were not seen by the Client. If you had added the ServerIPAddr and Protocol parameters to the Client INI file, as suggested, then the fact that the traffic must have been blocked somewhere would have come to light.

Anyway, I'm glad you sorted out. I would certainly never have thought of a router blockage. ;-)
