colin.g Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Hi Guys I have had a strange occurrence with FSX. I fly online quite a bit with IVAO and connect in the usual way. Since yesterday my module button in the main menu bar has disappeared. This means that I can no longer connect to IVAO or have access to FSUIPC4. I dont know if I have done something silly. I have tried to reinstall FSUIPC4 but still don't have any luck. Does anyone know how to remedy this problem? Many thanks Colin

If FSUIPC4 cannot add its menu via Simconnect it either means FSUIPC4 is not actually being loaded and run, or it is being loaded but is failing to connect correctly to SimConnect. Check for an FSUIPC4 Log file in the Modules folder. if one is being produced each time you run FSX, then FSX is being loaded and ryun. Show me that log (you can paste it here). If no log is being produced then FSUIPC4 is not even getting loaded, which either means it isn't in the DLL.XML file correctly -- a reinstall should fix that unless the DLL.XML file is correct -- or it means your Simconnect installation is corrupted. You fail to mention the version of FSUIPC you are using. that's always important to know. Another log file which might be helpful is the FSUIPC4 Install log. Paste that into a reply too. Pete

Pete Dowson Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 I did install Prepar3D v2 and FSUIPC4 yesterday. And does it work okay in P3Dv2? The Install file looks okay, but the lack of an FSUIP4.LOG file means that FSUIPC isn't being loaded. The first suspect is the DLL.XML file which may be corrupted. Despite its filetype this is an ordinary text file, so see if you can paste it here. You'll find it in C:\Users\Colin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\ Pete

It will generate a clean one with only FSUIPC4 listed. If that works then it is definitely your DLL.XML which was at fault. But I can't figure out why from what you posted above. BTW you didn't say if your P3Dv2 was okay. BTW, looking back at the Install log, you did have one failure: Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder: Failed to install "FSUIPC4 User Guide.pdf" Error 32 reported ("The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Pete Dowson Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 ... The problem is a corruption in the part which is supposed to be loading something called "FeelT". I guess there's a chunk mussing -- it's probably supposed to be a FeelThere product. To get the file working you need to delete these lines: <Launch.Addon> <Name>FeelT </Launch.Addon> But then you will need to see about reinstalling whatever FeelThere (?) program it was. I really don't like XML. One error in the formatting results in everything else following being ignored. In this case it's the lack or a closing </Name> tag, so the XML process simply can't work out what is going on and gives up/ Regards Pete 1

Pete Dowson Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 The DLL.XML only contains IVAP's entry. None for SODE. So I don't know why oyu are seeing one but not the other. I suspect you are getting the DLL.XML from the wrong place, as FSUIPC's Installer certainly added it to this one: C:\Users\Max\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE\DDL.XML But maybe your FSX-SE isn't loading this. The line: 11 minutes ago, max eugenio said: NOTE: This is actually FSX-SE masquerading as FSX-MS in the Installer log indicates that, though you have both FSX and FSX-SE registered as installed in your Windows registry, they are both FSX-SE. Furthermore you appear to have TWO distinct installs of FSX-SE, and I think you are loading the wrong one. the two are in these folders: .. >>> OK! FOUND FSX! <<< ... SetupPath=E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX ... >>> OK! FOUND FSX-SE! <<< ... SetupPath=E:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX See? You have files in "SteamLibrary" AND files in"Steam"! A bit of a mess really. Try loading the other one. Pete
max eugenio Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Hi, So I have two fsx se installed on my pc? I loaded the fsx that is in steam library/steam apps/common/fsx and ivap appears on the addons tab but I don't have any planes for some reason so I can't fly. The fsx on Steam/steam apps/common/fsx has got planes but no ivap on the addons tab. It is a big mess indeed. Should get rid of fsx and re install it or is there any other way to fix it? Thanks.
Pete Dowson Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 12 minutes ago, max eugenio said: So I have two fsx se installed on my pc? Well you certainly have Steam and SteamLibrary, presumably both with files in, including Steamapps\common\fsx. the Registry says they are both their, one labelled as FSX the other as FSX-SE. FSUIPC4 installed into E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\Modules, so if you don't boot from there it certainly won't run. 16 minutes ago, max eugenio said: It is a big mess indeed. Should get rid of fsx and re install it or is there any other way to fix it? You actually have FSX as well? In which folder. Both registry entries, the one for FSX and the one for FSX-SE point to (different) Steam folders. Surely you don't have FSX in one of those two? Yes, I think you need to uninstall both copies of FSX-SE and probably try to do the same for FSX, if it is uninstallable. Else it might need some registry editing. How did you arrive at this mess? Pete
max eugenio Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Hi, I probably installed fsx se and couldn't get it to work so I installed it again. I haven't bought or installed fsx (normal version) only steam edition from steam store. So I guess I will start from 0 and install it again. Thanks for your help Pete I appreciate it.
Pete Dowson Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 2 hours ago, max eugenio said: I probably installed fsx se and couldn't get it to work so I installed it again. I haven't bought or installed fsx (normal version) Ah, that partly explains it. When you install FSX-SE without a prior edition of FSX, it installs to look like FSX. If it thinks FSX is already installed, it installs as FSX-SE. Your first install would have looked like FSX to the second. Always uninstall between install attempts. Mind you, it doesn't really explain why the later one (looking like FSX-SE) was in the normal place, Steam\steamapps\common, whilst the original, looking like FSX, got into SteamLibrary\steamapps\common. Unless you chose such a place. Pete
