Can't get interface started.

I haved downloaded, installed, and registered FSUIPC 4. In the text behind it it says that it could not locate FSX.CFG. It did find my free version of FSUIPC and loaded onto that. I did have FSX open right before install. But know I can not open any interface to work with. Please help. I went into the FSX.CFG and it does not show FSUIPC at all.

FSX.CFG only needs to be located because the DLL.XML file, needed to get FSUIPC loaded, is in the same folder.

 

You haven't shown me the Install log file, which is needed for me to help properly, but I suspect you've not installed FSX properly, or you have moved it or restored the registry since. Please go to yout FSX Modules folder, open the Install log, and cut and paste the whole thing into a message here.

Pete: After trying many different formats I have resorted to typing this out. The 20kb upload is difficult.

All you had to do was view the file in Notepad, select all the text and copy and paste into your message. That's what everyone else does! There's no problem. Don't try uploading the file, I never suggested that!

 

As you must have noticed, contrary to your original report, FSX.CFG was found, and the DLL.XML updated okay:

Which begs the question, what exactly do you mean by this:

WE shall try to copy the CFG It Worked. From what I have heard if you delete it FSX will create a new one, correct?

Just so there is no confusion. This is the CFG file I found in (x86) where it always was before. There was two of them there but only one I could open. I found a PDF close to it with the words FSUIPC (along with some other things) on it nearby which I could not open.

Sorry, I've no idea what you are talking about. why are you interested in CFG files? What are you trying to do? And I have no idea what that stuff was you just posted. What relevance does it have to anything? It isn't an FSX.CFG file, and there's no point in showing me an FSX.CFG file -- it is nothing to do with FSUIPC.

This goes from-OS Disk(C:)-Program Files (x86)-Microsoft Games-Microsoft Flight Simulator X-Config.

Which I then opened the notepad and copied and sent to you. This is the exact same file I put the Himefix=1 fix into a long time ago.

Please tell me if I am doing something wrong. I am also having issues with active sky next which may be related.

The file you pasted was most certainly NOT the FSX.CFG file -- it is some sort of list of font and window definitions. I've no idea what file it is. You most certainly would not put any "high mem fix" parameter into it.

 

You said in your first post that it needed to find the CFG file. Well this is obviously not what it seems.

 

You are evidently only reading part of what I'm writing! I actually said

 

FSX.CFG only needs to be located because the DLL.XML file, needed to get FSUIPC loaded, is in the same folder.

 

The file is not used by FSUIPC or its installer, it is only the proof that this is the correct folder for the DLL.XML file! I do not need or want to see any FSX.CFG file -- as I also said in my previous message:

 

I also pointed out, and you seem to have ignored that message, that the installation was okay, there was no failure to find the FSX.CFG file as you stated in your original post. The log you so laboriously typed out actually told you it was found okay!

 

The only question remaining for you to answer is the one I posed before, i.e.what exactly do you mean by this:

I believe it did find the CFG folder just as I did but it is corrupt. Hence no loader was installed. Should I delete the folder and let FSX build a new one and start over?

The CFG file is of no consequence to FSUIPC, as I keep saying. If FSUIPC is not loading (and we've not established that yet!) then it will be the DLL.XML file which is corrupt.

 

C:\Users\rfields6\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\DLL.XML

 

If you think FSUIPC is not being loaded then show me that file. I'm not interested in any CFG file.

I think I owe you an apology. I was not aware you needed to start FSUIPC from the menu bar in the AC in FSX. I was looking for a start up screen.

FSUIPC is started when you run FS. It becomes part of FS. There's never any need to "start it up". The Add-Ons menu entry is there for you to set or change options, it is nothing to do with starting or stopping anything. Many add-ons put entries into the Add-Ons menu entry.

The User Guide is your friend. It has pictures of the assorted option pages you get from the Menu. I'm really not sure where else you could possibly think of looking.
