vonduck Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Hi Peter, I have downloaded the file and received error messages when installing... This far i have done the following: Installed as admin...... error comes up saying cannot edit the DLL.XML file to activate FSUIPC. Run P3D at least once (which i have and no difference) Clicking ok it runs through the rest of the install and says its installed but may not run as its not included in the DLL.XML file... So... i renamed my exiting DLL.XML file and re-installed - same message ... below is the install log Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.93Looking in registry for FSX install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 Parameter"SetupPath"Not there, so looking in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\FSX Parameter"AppPath"... Is there anything i should be doing specifically here as most other times it works flawlessly? Cheers for any help Doug DLL.XML
vonduck Posted April 17, 2014 Author Report Posted April 17, 2014 HI again... In desperation i deleted the existing fsuipc files in the modules folder and reinstalled the new one... when checking the .dll file it shows version 4.9.2.9... Not sure whats happening here Pete? Edit... i watched carfeully the install location and it seems it is looking for my CFG somewhere else? ANy rate, all a bit complicated for me... maybe just the .DLL wold be easier to just drop in and overwrite? Thansk for nay help Doug
Pete Dowson Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Installed as admin...... error comes up saying cannot edit the DLL.XML file to activate FSUIPC. Run P3D at least once (which i have and no difference) There appears to be two separate set of installation files for your P3D installation, one listed as Prepar3D and the other as Prepar3D V2, as shown in the Install log: Looking in registry for Prepar3D install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D Parameter"SetupPath" ... >>> OK! FOUND Prepar3D! <<< ... Looking in registry for Prepar3D v2 install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 Parameter"SetupPath" ... >>> OK! FOUND Prepar3D v2! <<< ... It looks like you installed V2 in the same place as your old V1 either without properly deleting the former or, maybe, their uninstaller doesn't do a decent job? You really need to go into the registry and remove the whole section named HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D The error being reported is for that invalid installation, for V1, and NOT for v2 which was found and updated correctly. i watched carfeully the install location and it seems it is looking for my CFG somewhere else? It finds the version 2 CFG in the correct place. It can't find the version 1 CFG of course. Look: Found Prepar3D.CFG in "C:\Users\Doug\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Prepar3D.CFG" maybe just the .DLL wold be easier to just drop in and overwrite? It isn't that easy. The DLL.XML needs to tell Simconnect to load the module. Pete
vonduck Posted April 17, 2014 Author Report Posted April 17, 2014 Thanks Pete for the reply - have deleted those registry entries and will try again.. Will report back Cheers
Pete Dowson Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Thanks Pete for the reply - have deleted those registry entries and will try again.. I'd wait for FSUIPC 4.931 if I were you. Seems you are on P3D version 2.2.0.10438. Version 4.93 is for the main release, 10437. I've only just found the "hotfix" 10437 -- it isn't easy to find even when I was told in another thread that it exists! I'm complaining about this to L-M. I've got hours more work to do now rechecking all the hooks. :-( Pete

Pete Dowson Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Looking in registry for Prepar3D install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D Parameter"SetupPath" ... >>> OK! FOUND Prepar3D! <<< ... ................................................ This deosnt exisit on my machine! Certainly not under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE" tab Looking in registry for Prepar3D v2 install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 Parameter"SetupPath" ... >>> OK! FOUND Prepar3D v2! <<< .............. this is actually under the :HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\etc etc... Okay. Windows does funny things here -- it translates some of these keys. In that case the one you need to delete it HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D but check the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE one again, please, because it might get reset there when you are the current user. I've always been confused over when it does what in this area. Cannot edit the DLL.XML file to activate FSUIPC. It should be looking in the following: "C:\Users\Doug\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2" No. That part is where it is trying to locate the now deleted details for your P3D v1 installation -- as pointed to by the entry you've not yet deleted. It's the last section for v2, and that works okay. Pete
Lynxlynx Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Hi (first post)! I have also problem with CTD when I start P3d v.2. About the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D" I have found out that Migration tool adds this keys to the register if enabled (also to FSX)! But even with no entries in the register the new FSUIPC shows the wrong version in modules folder? Will the new version of FSUIPC sort that out? Thank you! Patrik
Lynxlynx Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Thank you Pete! Everything runs perfect now with 4.931 :-) Happy holiday Patrik
