Captsteff Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 I am toatlly new to the two computer thing. I purchased FSUIPC4 and WIDEFS7 on my computer with FSX on it. I now want to add another computer to hook up some additional screens, and I understand I need WIDEFS7 on that computer. I keep getting directed to simMarket where it looks like I have to buy another copy of WIDEFS7. I have keys for both FSUIPC4 and WIDEFS7. How do I get WIDEFS7 to my second computer. Thankyou.......Steff
Pete Dowson Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 I've moved this from the FAQ subforum to the Support Forum. Please post support questions here in future. I am toatlly new to the two computer thing. What program "directs" you to SimMarket? I hope you realise that WideFS is nothing to do with using other PCs with FS running on them. WideFS is for supporting other programs on PCs NOT running FS. If you simply want multiple PCs running FS all synchronised you need something like OpusFSX or WideView. How do I get WIDEFS7 to my second computer. Have you not bothered to read even a little of the WideFS user documentation provided? All you need on the client PCs is WideClient, which is in the WideFS zip file. It provides the FSUIPC interface for whatever FSUIPC applications you want to run there. Pete
Captsteff Posted July 27, 2014 Author Report Posted July 27, 2014 Pete, Here is the web site that directed me to simMarket to get both the FSUIPC4 and the WIDEFS7: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html I paid 30 euro for both programs. I had an older version of FSUIPC. When I downloaded these files I got one Zip file called FSUIPC4. In that Zip file were 4 items (FSUIPC 4853 changes (a PDF file), FSUIPC4_Loader.dll, Install FSUIPC4, and Installing & Registering FSUIPC4 (a PDF file)). There was nothing that said anything about WideFS at all. How can I read a document that I didn't seem to get? I did not get anything that was a WideFS zip file . Maybe I was supposed to get two seperate Zip files (FSUIPC4.zip and WideFS.zip). I am going to write to simMarket and see if I can redownload the WideFS zip. You seemed to be suprised that www.schiratti.com/dowson.html directs me to get the files from SimMarket. Should I be looking to get this from another site? On the schiratte site there was an option for WideFS6.995, but I thought I needed WideFS7. Did I get taken by clicking on the simMarket site? If so you should get it removed. My objective eventually is to get the JetMax Flight Simulator which will have its own program that needs to be run on the second computer as well as there own 737. So it sounds like I will need both WideFS7 and WideClient. Sorry to be so wordy, but it sounded as if you thought I was not even making an attempt to follow instructions, when in fact I never got them. In any case, thankyou for answering my first inquiry. Steff
mgh Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 I don't you did download WideFS from http://secure.simmarket.com/pete-dowson-widefs7.phtml. That sites explains how to download the file WideFS.zip, and also how to register it. WideFS.zip includes the documenation - WideFS Technical.pdf and WideFS User Guide.pdf REGISTRATION KEY Registration key after purchase, see order details page in customer account SHAREWARE First download and install the demo version and check functionality! The demo version is the product installation file; there is no other download!DEMO DOWNLOAD WideFS.zip
Pete Dowson Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 Here is the web site that directed me to simMarket to get both the FSUIPC4 and the WIDEFS7: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html Yes, but you've already got them, so why are you going back? In your first message you say you "keep being directed to SimMarket". Who or what "keeps directing you"? Obviously the website which tells you where to purchase them always tells you where to purchase them, but surely you aren't stuck in a loop reading that web site and hence "keep getting directed"? I paid 30 euro for both programs. I did not get anything that was a WideFS zip file. Why not? You bothered to download FSUIPC4.ZIP but not WideFS.zip. If you wanted WideFS why didn't you download it? Maybe I was supposed to get two seperate Zip files (FSUIPC4.zip and WideFS.zip). I am going to write to simMarket and see if I can redownload the WideFS zip. The files are nothing to do with SimMarket. They are downloadable from here (in the Download Links subforum) or over on www.schiratti.com/dowson, the site you yourself mentioned. That one isn't mine nor SimMaket's, but Enrico Schiratti's. My objective eventually is to get the JetMax Flight Simulator which will have its own program that needs to be run on the second computer as well as there own 737. So it sounds like I will need both WideFS7 and WideClient. WideClient is a component of WideFS7. The other part, the server, is built into FSUIPC4. The documentation and client programs are in WideFS.zip. Sorry to be so wordy, but it sounded as if you thought I was not even making an attempt to follow instructions, when in fact I never got them. Well if you wanted WideFS you should have downloaded it, just like you did for FSUIPC. In fact it is quite normal to download these things and read about them BEFORE going anywhere near Simmarket to purchase them! BTW, I just looked at the Schiratti page and it quite clearly instructs you to download using the WideFS link, the one just below the FSUIPC link. How could you be so confused by this? I don't understand! Please re-read the part on that website I've highlighted below: FSX Prepar3D V 1.4, 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2.10438 FSUIPC4 4.934 NEW Full release of FSUIPC 4 (incorporating WideFS 7) for use with FSX and Prepar3D May 9th 2014 (3.3 MB) WideServer7 is built into FSUIPC4, you will need the WideClient from the WideFS link below. WideFS 6.995 The WideClient.exe included in this zip is to be used with the WideServer7 module which is included with FSUIPC4 from now on May 5th 2013 (1 MB) Pete
Captsteff Posted July 27, 2014 Author Report Posted July 27, 2014 One quick question, I see the links under your post. The one for WideFS6.995, is that the same as WideFS7????? I am sorry I am not up to your standards of technology. I am a senior citizen and just trying to have some fun with Flight Sim. So some time I make mistakes. Steff
Pete Dowson Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 One quick question, I see the links under your post. The one for WideFS6.995, is that the same as WideFS7????? That version number refers to the revision of WideClient, which is the same for both WideFS6 and WideFS7. the WideFS.zip package is the same for both -- you simply do not use the WideServer.DLL module for WideFS7. If you downloaded WideFS.zip as you were instructed to, and looked at the documentation, you would understand all this. I am sorry I am not up to your standards of technology. I am a senior citizen and just trying to have some fun with Flight Sim. So some time I make mistakes. I am also a senior citizen, being 71 years old next month. And it isn't a question of "technology", just one of reading what it says and consequently simply downloadng the package as it tells you. That's all. ;-) Pete
