Albie Cui Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Hi all. Recently my FSUIPC crashed frequently during the flight, cause my PMDG777 complete losing control. It always crashed without any warning, and when it happened, I can neither open FSUIPC interface through Add-on Menu nor I can control my plane anymore. When I checked the log file, I cannot find anything wrong either. I tried to re-install it for several times, but it did not work (I also tried copy FSUIPC4_Loader.DLL into the FS Modules folder before running the Installer). Anyone can help me resolve this serious problem, thanks :) Here is my log: 234 System time = 05/01/2015 10:40:51 234 FLT path = "C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\" 265 Trying to connect to SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 ... 281 FS path = "D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\" 671 LogOptions=00000000 00000001 671 SIM1 Frictions access gained 671 ASN active function link set 671 Wind smoothing may be by ASN, not FSUIPC, if it is running 671 Will switch smoothing action when ASN starts/stops 671 G3D.DLL fix attempt installed ok 671 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 671 Trying to use SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 671 Running in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", Version: 10.0.61637.0 (SimConnect: 10.0.61259.0) 671 Initialising SimConnect data requests now 671 FSUIPC Menu entry added 749 D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FLIGHTS\OTHER\FLTSIM.FLT 749 D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Aircreation_582SL\Aircreation_582SL.AIR 460297 D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 777-300ER\B777-300ER.AIR 507487 System time = 05/01/2015 10:49:18, Simulator time = 10:40:50 (18:40Z) 507487 Aircraft="PMDG 777-367/ER Cathay Pacific 'Asia's World City' B-KPF Goldstar Textures" 510498 Weather Mode now = Theme 510545 ASN Running? Pete Dowson Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Sorry, there is no useful information in your report, not even the version of FSUIPC4. The only odd thing I see in your log is something frequently stopping FS and reloading WX.PLN into the GPS. Is that you? What are the symptoms of "FSUIPC crashed frequently". Since FSUIPC operates as part of FS, when it crashes so does FS. It cannot "crash" on its own, nor can it "crash frequently" during one flight. Perhaps you are using the wrong word, and "crash" isn't applicable? There's certainly no crash shown in the log. Also there's no termination shown. Did FS just hang, or did you forget to close it down? You said I can neither open FSUIPC interface through Add-on Menu Is that because it disappears from the AddOn menu, or what? It would disappear is SimConnect stopped responding, which can happen sometimes on an overloaded system, but then it should usually recover, and these events are always logged. Pete

Is that you? What can cause my FS stop? I really I have no idea about it. I am not sure whether is "crash" or "no response", cause there is no related message in my log file. But I think using "FSUIPC no response" is more proper, because although FSUIPC is no longer functioning, but FS have no problem. Is that because it disappears from the AddOn menu, or what? It would disappear is SimConnect stopped responding, which can happen sometimes on an overloaded system, but then it should usually recover, and these events are always logged. It still in the Addon menu. Just when I click it, there was no response. And when that happen, not only everything on my aircraft is out of my control, including elevator, aileron, flaps, throttle, etc., but also the functions of FSUIPC is losing (e.g., Autosave function was disable) Another information that I think is useful is that after the error occured, I tried to load the Autosave file to recover my flight, but FSUIPC just stopped working immediately after 777 is fully load. If I start a new flight, everything is normal Edited January 6, 2015 by Albie Cui
Albie Cui Posted January 6, 2015 Author Report Posted January 6, 2015 I looked for some topics in the forum, and I find the problem in this topic: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/70797-fsuipc-stops-working-while-flying/, is as same as mine. The only difference is that I flew PMDG777 and did not use AivlaSoft EFB during the flight
srcooke Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 The WX.PLN entries are most likely from the PMDG 777 automatic update when accessing the FMC, it triggers a weather update for enroute winds when using ASN. I recently had similar menu issues where entries were listed but could not be accessed, it turned out to be a corrupt dll.xml file, using a backup resolved my issues.

Pete Dowson Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 It doesn't look anything like the same problem. You say "after FSX closed completely". Do you mean YOU closed it, or it crashed. If you closed it, how? If it crashed I need to see the Windows error details for it, from the Event Viewer. It doesn't look anything to do with FSUIPC from the information you've given. Pete

Pete Dowson Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Why are you logging IPC reads and writes? It actually turns out useful, as it identifies a potential culprit. But I didn't ask you to. You are running FS Real Time with it trying to auto-synchronise. It is setting the date and time regularly -- about every 4 minutes by the look of it. That is not a good idea. It causes complete reloads of sceneries, textures everytime, and this repetiitvely can cause FS to hang or crash. I assume your FSinstallation's clock is running slow or fast, quite drastically. FS Real Time should only need to adjust by secods. FSUIPC has a sync facility with merely zeros the seconds when they should be zero -- changing minutes causes reloads. So, try without running FS Real Time, or at least turning off its Autoupdates. FSUIPC certainly is not crashing or stopping, not by itself. You have something running which is doing it. If it isn't FS Real Time, I think you need to stop every other program running and add them one at a time, one per new flight. Oh, and you still didn't answer my question from your earlier report, i.e. You say "after FSX closed completely". Do you mean YOU closed it, or it crashed. If you closed it, how? If it crashed I need to see the Windows error details for it, from the Event Viewer. Pete
Albie Cui Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Posted January 7, 2015 Why are you logging IPC reads and writes? It actually turns out useful, as it identifies a potential culprit. But I didn't ask you to. Because I looked some previous topic, and I found that you asked one who has the same problem as mine to log IPC reads and writes, and the Simconnect. So I tried , and fortunately, it works :D So, try without running FS Real Time, or at least turning off its Autoupdates. I will try a new flight without my FS Real Time. But I have used FS Real Time for more than half a year, and this problem started from New Year's Day You say "after FSX closed completely". Do you mean YOU closed it, or it crashed. If you closed it, how? If it crashed I need to see the Windows error details for it, from the Event Viewer. My FS did not crashed. It was closed by my self. At first, I click the "close" button on the upper right corner of the window, but I cannot closed it completely. Then I shut down the process of FSX.exe in Task Manager
Albie Cui Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Posted January 7, 2015 I had two flight today without FS Real Time. One CYVR-KJFK with only ASN, which I have flew for more 5 time in the past few day to test. Unfortunately, the same problem occured again after airborne 1.5 hours. Another one is CYVR-VHHH with ASN and smartCARS. Everything is okay during this 12.5 hours flight. I think there might be somethings wrong on the way to JFK, caused the problem ... Can a add-on scenery cause FSUIPC or Simconnect stop working? I really have no idea about it.

Can a add-on scenery cause FSUIPC or Simconnect stop working? I really have no idea about it. Oh, yes. Problems in scenery files can play complete havoc with FS's memory and results are not predictable. And it may not even be scenery, it may even be a corrupted aircraft texture file for an AI aircraft, which livery appears more in certain areas, near specific airports. This latter happened to a friend of mine and it eventually turned out to be one bad texture in one aircraft installed by MyTrafficX. Whenever I've had such a problem with sceneries I've had to disable them, layer by layer, till I find the one containing the error, then re-install it. Pete

Pete I do not use AI aircraft when flew offline, so it cannot be caused by a corrupted aircraft texture. And because of this problem always occured between HLGAR (A fix in northern Salt Lake FIR) and Green Bay VOR (in North-Eastern Minneapolis FIR), so I will check all terrain and scenery in this area, and find out what happened. I think the best way before I find that corrupted file is that do not fly between West Coast and East Coast, LOL

You'd be better off going to the AVSIM FSX forums for help. There's one dedicated to FSX crashes. Pete
