stuarth Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 [MOVED TO THE SUPPORT FORUM] I have fsuipc4.4938c installed and working in fsx steam (FSXSE).However an add-on program (traffic optimiser) only seems to want to work with the FSX SP1 simconnect version, which I could install from the boxed FSX SDK that I still have on disk. Would installing this older version of simconnect upset installation of either fsuipc or FSXSE, since it seems recent changes to fsuipc for it to work on FSXSE was due to changes Dovetail made to simconnect?Stuart
Pete Dowson Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 I have fsuipc4.4938c installed and working in fsx steam (FSXSE) You should really update to 4.938f. Version 4.938c is no longer supported. However an add-on program (traffic optimiser) only seems to want to work with the FSX SP1 simconnect version, which I could install from the boxed FSX SDK that I still have on disk. You can install all versions of Simconnect without one affecting the other or any installed add-ons. You'll find the three FSX versions in the Steam installation of FSX, in the SDK folder (look for Core Utilities Kit\Simconnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces). For full compatibility with add-ons I would advise installing all three -- RTM, SP1 and SP2. Would installing this older version of simconnect upset installation of either fsuipc or FSXSE, since it seems recent changes to fsuipc for it to work on FSXSE was due to changes Dovetail made to simconnect? No, FSUIPC hooks into inner code within a number of FSX modules, so it has to be changed for every new version of FS. However, it can use any version of SimConnect -- it isn't tied to one. If there's a choice it chooses the latest one it recognises. Pete
stuarth Posted February 6, 2015 Author Report Posted February 6, 2015 Many thanks Pete for the clear explanation. I'll try installing as you suggest. Stuart
